RE: Caricatures - underrated art

in #caricatures6 years ago

Love them or hate them, they are here for a long time and we have to give them a deserved art credit, because there is saying that caricatures may be one of the most populist forms of art, but as figurative drawings, they are typically just as skillful and more influential than most portrait paintings.

Couldn't agree with you more on this one @olegw. I grew up in the UK in the 80's with 'spitting image' using puppets to create giant caricature landscapes of moving satire. I can still rememeber being scared of the maggie thatcher puppet as a small child

I mean, who wouldn't be scared of that? ;-) The power of caricature to create satire is an awesome thing, which you have captured so well in this article. Great stuff :-)

Hahaaha Maggie :) There are so many nice, funny and influential caricatures around. We should
appreciate them more than we do.
Thank you for the reply :)
