Day 52 Daily Runs (#runningproject)

in #challenge6 years ago (edited)

I have set myself a challenge of taking 100 days off to mainly focus on my health and overall personal development and will be using this account as a personal diary blog to write down my daily progress.

I joined along in the Daily 100+ Rep #fitnesschallenge from @steemmatt about 10 days ago. Not so much for the potential prize money, but because it pushed me to do better and be even more self aware about being active every single day. The idea is to not only do this during the 100 day Challenge I set for myself, but to make it into a habit which will bring along a lot of health benefits similar to how I changed my food intake to a whole food plant based diet during my entire lifetime.

One of the things I tested was doing a moring run. I have never been big on running, to me it was always boring, uncomfortabe and exhausting in the past. This totally changed and I can understand why people really enjoy running now. My overall fitness has improved so much that I enjoy it myself now and starting the day this way has not been something I have to drag myself into. Getting a little activity and being outside makes each day start on a good note and there is little to no pain on my legs anymore.

On day 52 I did what I plan to make into my standard moring run in a very nice environment just 5 minutes of walking away from where I live.

I ran just shy of 4km (only walked the part to cross the water) and the route easily allows to extend the run over time to 10km+.

My intention is to continue blogging on Steemit as a way to monitor my overall health and fitness. Mainly when the winter hits it should really avoids me from slacking, I plan to enter some running events in the near future and am looking to be a part of the #runningproject from @runningproject created by @toofasteddie here on Steemit to be surrounded by like minded people.

On Day 51 was a very active day, I started out with a 4km run in the moring, made a long walk to the city and ended the day with a 150 minute tennis session. I also did a couple normal reps on the side.

I may be biased, but the running community on here is pretty fantastic! ;) Welcome to @runningproject!

Steemit in general has been really kind, the entire reward system really works in a way that removes all the negativity other social media often suffer from. I'll be looking to buy some SP to give back. Now with the dust threshold, it's impossible to upvote comments alone because the payout will be turned into dust if it's between 0.00$ and 0.019$

That’s great that you’ve discovered that running can be a fun and feel-good experience! For someone who doesn’t normally run it takes a couple of weeks at least for the body to get used to it but once it does you really can get addicted to it. I love the endorphins high it gives me and it’s a necessary part of my stress management as I have a very demanding job and busy life.

When I’m running I feel a sense of freedom and accomplishment and there’s nothing like it. Other forms of exercise will give the same feeling but running and yoga are my two favorites.

The way I see it myself is that running is the most efficient way to get health benefits from being active. It can be done everywhere, does not have to take up hours and is compeltely free and enjoyable once you are into it. I still slghtly prefer sports that require skills and allow you to do something genious like tennis. Thi might change though If I ever were to discover the runners high.
