Melissa made some readymade chicken strips from the store for the kids (we didn't tell them til after they had eaten...) and I tried one to see the difference. The store bird had no flavor to speak of besides the breading it was in. I was quite surprised to be able to tell such a difference.
Oh man. Best squash I ever made.
It was a really fulfilling meal, after working in the garden all summer then working all day on the birds. Felt good.
