Infrared Photography - Looking up into the tree canopy

in #colorchallenge5 years ago

I was surrounded by evergreen trees, mostly pines and gave an interesting look to the scene. A lens flare was produced due to the position of the sun and it was partly cloudy at the time of taking photos.

These photos are my posts for #colorchallenge

Vines were growing up into the trees, as the ground cover was not able to get as much light as it needs on the surface.

rw-1190766.jpeg

A few of the pines were covered in vines, making them look furry.. No one has cleared them and will keep growing and cover the whole tree one day.

Those black spots up in the canopy may be dense bird nests. Though its hard to say exactly, even more vines can be seen growing in these trees.

I take pictures with a special camera. Its a Mirrorless DSLR that has been modified by Life Pixel to see light in other wavelengths. This allows my camera to see light in the Infrared [IR] around 1300 NM wavelength, through the visual spectrum and into the Ultraviolet A and B wavelengths roughly into the 300 NM wavelength.

I carry many filters on me to make the photos you see in my blog, these filters screw on my lens and help me isolate certain wavelengths for certain scenes. These filters can be IR / UV pass-through filters to assist me get a natural photo taking out the UV and IR light. Or I may use a Infrared pass-through filter capture just IR light. I can do the same with UV light as well, though I need some better filters which they can cost a few hundred dollars for true Ultraviolet pass through filters. So for right now I have B + W 403 bandpass filters that still allow some IR light in, due to their cheaper material.

There are also exotic glasses made of sapphire and germanium I am open to working with to replace my silica glass hot mirror with a material that allows even longer wavelengths of infrared to enter my cameras sensor. Special sensors, lenses and filters of that material would be needed as well, so it would be a big project but one that may give some even more unique photography results.

Addresses below to help me buy better camera equipment and support me to travel to locations to do photo and video and overall great blogs in new places. I would be happy to list some of the contributors in my posts for donations that help me along the way.

Yes, in such an environment is very nice to be!

@ludmila.kyriakou sure is. Love walking around with my camera.

Hi @solominer,

I'm very fascinated and impressed with your deep understanding of infrared and ultraviolet light spectrum, as well as your keen ability in manipulation through these pass through filters.
I've always loved photography, but have never taken it on as anything past the hobby level, so I really have to read your descriptive language in accessories, and different types of glasses and bypass filters very intently to fully understand the process of what you're doing.
It's really very intriguing to read just how involved photography is. I had an idea, but man, this is awesome!
There is a special vibe to the effect you captured. It left me feeling very relaxed and my eyes were circularly retracing the photo's very comfortably. I love them! Superb job as always. I know where to begin my studies ;)

@futuremind it's been quite a learning experience but I think I'm getting some of down now. I still have alot to learn, thanks for compliments. And happy others notice my work and are impressed with the results. Yeah I tend to travel to calm places so I can see how the vibes are given off in a relaxing way.. if you ever have any questions about photography or other stuff I post just ask.

Thanks alot for the @helpiecake curation too.
