Some people take criticism to heart, even if you try to break it to them in the simplest form. They see it as a personal attack, regardless of how you tell them.

I can so relate to this. I try to leave open ends when I speak so as to allow people give their opinion. I think this helps as well. Some people just don't know when someone is being plain honest with them. No, the whole world isn't against you.
