Buliding my future Part 4

A Life’s Ambition

Having dreams and ambitions is the driving force which propels people to improve themselves, and helps to motivate individuals to move forward. Without any dreams or goals, people tend to wander through life aimlessly not knowing what they want out of life. Sometimes, they don’t even know if they are going in the right direction.

Most people feel that their dreams are only some distant illusion, far off in the distance like a mirage. However, I beg to differ. I am a firm believer that if you want something hard enough and long enough and you give 10000%- you can achieve your dreams and make them a reality. My most memorable phrase is:

" Nothing is impossible, it just hasn’t been made possible yet".

For those of you just joining my story here is the Introductory Post

Part 2

Part 3

For those joining me again, thanks for coming back! I really appreciate your Support.

We left off with the apparent end to my story, since the partnership with my first potential partner didn't pan out as expected. However, I was determined to continue with my dream. The second person I was introduced to as a potential partner was a retired Colonel from the Air Force, who I was yet again introduced to by a patient of mine.

After the normal introductions with months of spending hours drinking coffee and discussing the possibilities, we eventually agreed to go forward with some plans. We agreed to initially start a pharmacy, and began importing some medical products. It was fortunate for me that my partner had some office space which we could use for this initial venture. With paintbrush in hand, I set forth to single-handedly decorate the office to prepare it for use.

Initially, it appeared that everything was proceed without a hitch, but nothing could have prepared me for what was about to happen next. It was the beginning of my busy season, and I had traveled to Stockholm for a conference.  While I was away, I received a phone cal from my partner asking if I had the key to the office.  I replied that it was on my keychain at the moment, however, I would be back in Qatar in two days' time. Apparently, this upset my partner to the point where he decided to change the locks.

From the beginning, I had handled the bulk of the planning.  To have it taken away from me in such a manner was not a pleasant experience, and actually quite disappointing.  I felt as if the project had regressed. I was left out to dry, and there was not much I could do about it. I must admit I was quite demoralized, but yet again I rose from it and saw it as an opportunity to grow and learn.  Instead of surrendering, I started to search for another potential avenue to bring my dreams to fruition.

Approximately one year after that experience, I was going through my social media and noticed a friend of mine was advertising a service for that the company that employed him.  He was claiming that the company was able to build a customized hospital within a year, from start to finish. I thought that sounded like an interesting concept, so I gave him a call just to see exactly how this could be done!

It turned out that the company specialized in developing modular buildings in such a way that they could quickly and efficiently erect a hospital. I was introduced to the owner of the company and using a template of a previously built hospital in Europe, they were able to redesign those blueprints for my needs.

After several months and many revisions later, we had a 3D printed model and drawings of the hospital.  The only thing left to find was a suitable piece of land to begin construction. As you can imagine, trying to do this on a part-time basis is no small task, and I tended to rely on my friend to do a lot of the leg work.  Unfortunately I let some of the details slip, which proved to be detrimental in the long run. Regardless of the slips, I was still able to develop a working feasibility study, and I was also able to draw up some templates for non-disclosures from a legal firm. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and disagreements, my friend and I parted on less than favorable conditions. Fortunately, I was able to recover everything and control the damage incurred by my friend. They say what doesn't harm you can only make you stronger so like the phoenix I rose from the ashes renewed.

Stay tuned for the next Installment......

Your story is incredible, Rob. So may pitfalls and setbacks. But still you keep the faith and carry on undeterred.

Thanks @kiwideb yes i am very stubborn and persistent.

And so many people will be thankful for that.

It's so amazing from our perspective - but I can't imagine how life-changing it will be for the patients under his care!!!! That is the real gold :)

Exactly, that's what's so inspiring. Rob is being stubborn and persistent not for his own sake, but to be of service to those who need him. Doesn't get much more golden than that.

Gosh what a story - you must have felt quite devastated but your determination is remarkable!

And we are only half way through!! What happens next........

I can't wait to get the next installment of the dream coming to life!! :)

Unfortunate having to burn bridges, though it seems you are pretty good at building new ones. Brick by brick right?

Thanks @enginewitty!! In my line of work you learn when its time to cut the loses and go for the amputation. Fortunately for me I have been able to find new bridges to cross, and here there a re plenty opportunities, finding the right one for you is sometimes the hardest part of the whole process.

I've had my share of experiences so I feel ya buddy. My current partner is going on nine months and still strong so been really lucky in that department. We think a lot alike and have different strong suits so we work well together :) want to read the next installment now so I know how it's tuend out for ya. Don't tell me here!

Slowly but surely, You are doing it. I hope the future hold less setbacks for you. :)
