KittyCats + 1/5 of a Minnow
So I have been stuck in the land of work and I thought that I should come here and write something random.
As the crypto prices were at the very bottom and Ethereum was laughable cheap (144.87€ per coin) it came to my mind to check out one platform called CryptoKitties and buy couple cats and see how it works.
So I purchased 10 € worth of Ethereum, opened my account, linked an external wallet app for my Firefox and transferred my Ethereum to my wallet. Easy!
Time for shopping! As the basic kitties were very cheap I went and purchased 3 of them for some 0.90€ and surprisingly the transfer fees were higher than the actual cats!
So next step was to sire one of my cats to a random good looking cat and wait for the new cat to be born at the crypto world. As I went on I saw that breeding was way more expensive than buying cats and most of the fees seemed to be all kind of transferring fees that do not benefit anyone else than the company behind Cryptokitties.
Very well, let just do this as we are here.
Then I started to look into breeding my own cats, but if I would like to do that, the breeding would cost me something like 1.35 € as the breeding fees were still there even when I owned my cats.
Are you kidding me?
What about selling?
For a fee I could list my cats for sale but there is no guarantee that someone would buy them and the listing is active only for 2 days.
Say what?
Listing my cats for Breeding? The same story as above.
So the CryptoKitties is a genius money making machine for the owners and for cat owners it's kind of a gambling over and over again with shitty odds.
At this point, I looked that I had spent 3 €, so I took my Ethereum that was left and converted into Steem.
I powered up my account and now I have over 107.92 Steem Power and I feel that the Steem will benefit me more in the future than CryptoKitties ever will!
So I'm now 1/5 of a Minnow, only 392.08 Steem to go!
Unfortunately, my upvote is still worth of nothing as the fluctuating Steem price is affecting on voting power, so to be able to cast 1 cent vote, you need right now 117 Steem Power.
I will get there, eventually.
I haven't heard much of cryptokitties in a while is there still a big interest in it? I know it was blowing up during the bull run. Are you also into STEEM monsters? I've recently joined but haven't looked into it much yet

I saw that there are still some sellers, but I think most have done the math that it's not profitable at low prices and that it's a risky business so they have lost many users.

Ah I see, so everyone’s just kinda holding out waiting for the good times to come back again I assume! It’s pity because there was a real hype about it and trades were going on like crazy at one point
