in #cryptocurrency5 years ago

As digital jobs become commonplace, the ability to work remotely and use talents from across the globe has started to become a real driving force in the job market.

While many will still opt for the traditional concept of 9-5, suit and tie and monthly salary jobs others are looking at alternative means.

The era of remove working and digital nomads are here an this self-reliant and self-sufficient by working from the comfort of their homes has begun to disrupt industries with top talent not willing to settle for anything less than working on their terms.

Freelance job websites are starting to grow in popularity as the demand for micro jobs increases, but this does have its issues, especially when it comes to payment across borders and forex exchange rates.

The invention of virtual currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the likes broke the barriers of how freelancers are being paid after they render their services to clients at the other end of the world.

Freelancers can take advantage of the borderless advantage cryptocurrencies offer, so if you're interested in freelancing for crypto, let's see what your options are.

Protip! If you're new to freelancing and do not feel comfortable with cryptocurrency then check out our post - How to Become a Freelancer and Where to Find the Best Freelance Jobs

Ethlance

Ethlance is a decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) which exists on the Ethereum blockchain as part of the district0x network. This means the platform is not owned by a central entity and can continue to function even if the creator attempts to take it offline.

Ethlance allows users to either hire freelancers and pay them in Ethereum, or find work and get paid by employers. The platform takes no cut of the freelancers’ earnings and offers its service and membership for free – meaning freelancers will receive exactly what the employer pays into the system.

Freelancers can also view public jobs and respond to the employer. All of these interactions are signed transactions recorded on the Ethereum blockchain, meaning there is an immutable record of the listings.

Users can also give and receive feedback to improve their rating and show potential employers or freelancers that they are capable and trustworthy.

Status - Open bounty

Open Bounty job postings Open Bounty While Ethlance covers a range of jobs – from blockchain engineers to public relations – Status’s Open Bounty platform is aimed more squarely at developers.

The Ethereum-based platform seeks to aid the development of blockchain projects – like its Status Messenger – by allowing users to post bounties for developers to complete.

These bounties can comprise anything from cleaning up GitHub repositories and translating app languages to Spanish, to auditing Solidity smart contracts for potential errors and writing efficient code which can run on the Ethereum blockchain without high gas costs.

Open Bounty is currently used by some blockchain projects to source development work from freelancers, including Aragon, Vector, district0x, and Status.

The platform also serves as an escrow between the job seeker (freelancers) and the employer, holding unto agreed sum until the service is fully rendered and the employer is cool with the job by indicating with a click of a button. Unlike other freelance platforms, CryptoGrind charges relatively less for using their platform.

Coinality

One of the most popular cryptocurrency job board platforms on the internet today. The popularity owes to the fact that there are quite some employers on this platform, who are always on the lookout for various degree of freelancers in no small measure. Programmers, web designers, content writers and all are regularly in demand on the platform.

At the time of writing, the latest update of the Reddit app has included a notification feature, just like that of YouTube, for Reddit users. This is helpful for those who don’t have the time to always check the platform at regular intervals for jobs which they qualify for.

Digital jobs pay digital currency

Cryptocurrency is still very much in its infancy and while I do think that it will have a future especially in the micro job and freelance space, I don't think its a market for freelancers to depend on.

While payment may be quick and simple, the volatility of cryptocurrency means that you're always taking a gamble when giving your price for a job. Sometimes you will walk away with more, other times you may walk away with less value when compared to fiat currency.

My suggestion to those interested in freelance work would be to pick out one or two tasks per month and add some crypto to your portfolio and hold it for the long term, it could turn into a very lucrative wiating game should the prices increase.

The era of remove working and digital nomads are here

Useful list, I think it will give me more things to sign up to play for a week then forget like with the 10 other freelance sites before them.

I think I really like that remove working, does that mean I can remove myself from working and still get paid? Like uif or sassa

Lol dude I tried upwork once and I got scammed and I was like never again I’m done with freelance sites! I have heard success stories though, I just prefer face to face!

Lol I think you’ll need to get a government job to be a remove worker or a remote worker (person who works the TV and PlayStation remotes)
