RE: Wake up call at 6:45am, friendly neighborhood alarm clock! Dlive #9

Congratulations on being 4th in Asher's engagement league! Lots of hard work put into curating! Cardinals not only attack their reflections, if they can see you behind the glass they will also attack. Weird birds. We had a woodpecker that used to come and bang out his beat on our metal mailbox. I guess he liked the amplified sounds. Perhaps the cardinal is bringing you a message? I get up early now because we have a noisy flock of parrots fly over the house twice a day. Once at 4:30 am and again around 5 pm. Used to drive me crazy in the morning...

Used to? Now you just became a morning person! You are amazing!

Birds are hilarious, and special. We want to feature birds, birding, birdwatching, become good at it, honor them, use them as kind of a placeholder for the environment in our recent efforts (more such content will be coming out soon from us, for now @ecoinstante is working hard on that).

And so here we come down to Florida, and there is a bird slamming itself against our window! Is the universe a hilarious huckster or what?!

PS - thank you! I'm not sure for how long I can keep it up, but I am having a blast responding to everything and commenting on even more ;-p

Commenting and engagement are addicting! Can't wait to see what you are going to do with birding. They are such fascinating creatures.

Birds are wonderful and come in such fascinating varieties. Besides your flock of toucans, do you get any fancy colorful ones down by you?

Yes, we do. We get McCaws, parrots, mot-mots, doves and my favourites, hummingbirds.

AHHH!!!! Yess, we love motmots and hummingbirds! Truthfully @ecoinstante could love the greyest dove seemingly equally, but of course I love the colorful ones and the ones with personalities!

We have a beautiful couple of motmots, the aequatorialis, that live in a cliff on the edge of our farm, they frequently come up and dance and talk to each other looking for fruit and insects. They are like complete alien visitors, talking in their strange language, it is so amazing and beautiful, we always stop whatever we are doing, entranced.

My patio is surrounded by fruit trees, vines and flowers. So I am visited by hummingbirds frequently and the motmots and parrots love my papaya! I have yet to eat one of my pitaya as the birds always eat them from the backside where I don't notice the neat little hole! LOL

How fantastic is that! How large is the area you have enclosed? Are we talking small garden or hacienda?

I don't know if you are familiar with a Manzana (no, not the apple) but we have about one Manzana or just under a hectare but over an acre of land walled. We have more land but it is not under the protection of the wall. Or it is a large garden area with a house, a two-story rancho under construction and a small guest house. We also have a larger pond and a really small one too. It is not a huge area, but it is not small either.
