Intro: Am I Doing This Right?

OK... first post on the blockchain... this is it, no going back...

Why am I here? Well, first and foremost... to learn from the Steemit Community! I've been active over the years on various platforms, too many to even count... and I'm old enough to remember the good old days of Friendster, Myspace and Yes... Tom was my first friend too...

But that's all in the past now, just like traditional social platforms like Facebook, Youtube etc...

I'm here for the long haul and gonna HODL here, contribute and grow with the Steemit and DLive community! I also love to travel, play PUBG, eat good food, preach the blockchain and enjoy life as often as I can. Did I mention that I love dogs? especially my dog Soba! I think I might start off with some information or tutorial type posts... so that I can share what little but valuable knowledge I have. But you never know... I might get all crazy and do other stuff too... so come back often and see what my Steemit account has in store for you!

      Hello robgreenleaf! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

      1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
      2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
      3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
      4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.

      Awesome to see people actually moving to Steemit from other platforms! Just curious, did you end up here because of interest in blockchain or because of influences from elsewhere?
      I've just recently joined the platform myself and I find the community to be extremely chill for the most part, but i guess you won't really be into the stuff I post about :) it's about gaming (although perhaps, according to your PUBG affection)
      Do you plan to keep the same sort of direction in your blog here or would you go for something new?

      Hey @emteks, Ive always been a photo poster, more than a writer, but I plan on doing more writing here at Steemit and of course post photos too. I also plan on testing out live-streaming over at DLive, another thing I normally dont do. So I guess to answer your 2nd question, I plan on doing new things here, outside my comfort zone, writing and streaming!

      Regarding how I heard about Steemit and my interest in the blockchain... Ive been HODLing small amounts of various coins for a few years now and its been good for me, so the blockchain has always been on my mind in that respect, but seeing how new companies are applying the blockchain to new uses cases excites me and when I was introduced to Steemit / DLive via some coworkers.. I was hooked!

      That's great! I always like to ask where people found out about Steemit as I'm a strong believer that we must get people from outside the crypto space, but you're an old timer I guess :) looking forward to your experimental stuff!
