Big Boy Karl (image by Krazy Uncle)

Saturday 30th
Today we went for a walk, after Karl and I practiced ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ for a while. He’s getting better, and luckily we had a few vehicles drive by on the road and I was able to keep Karl’s attention on me, mostly.

We’d just come back from our walk and I was in the house, with Karl outside and I was starting to look at some of the pictures I took of Karl, when a SUV pulled into the yard. Now, this is the first time since Karl came into my life that we had visitors. I had no idea what to expect, so I grabbed Karl’s leash and headed for the front door. That is where I’d left Karl sleeping on the porch, just moments before. By the time I’d got to the front porch I could hear Karl barking at the man who was now at the side door to the kitchen. Karl had been in the garage and now the guy was between us. I looked at him and said, “I don’t know what the dog’s going to do, I just got him.” Karl was barking and obviously upset at the man, and he would not come to me. I wanted to put his leash on him, but no doing. Karl would circle the man farther away from me, each time I tried to leash Karl.

The man and I started talking and he was a nice guy, out with his wife, driving a new SUV and they wanted to know about getting permission to hike on some of the nearby land my Landlord/Boss farms. Karl is still barking, but not being particularly menacing. So, I just told the guy what he wanted to know and kept an eye on Karl. The guy said it looks like you got yourself a watchdog there, and started making his way back to his vehicle. Karl kept barking and then started lunging at the man’s ankles. Oh, great! The guy didn’t turn his back on Karl after the first lunge and I can’t blame him, he did make it back to his vehicle without harm, and I was still trying to get Karl under control as they pulled out of the driveway, but then Karl started chasing the SUV and barking all the way out to the road and beyond.

Geez… is this little guy going to be a handful around other people? I do wonder if Karl would’ve reacted the same to a woman? Only time will tell.

Note: this is the last of the Stray Dog series… Karl’s no longer a stray and we have new stories to tell, so stay tuned… and learn how Karl and I overcame some of the issues he had with a dumb human. We've come a long, long way...

Wow, look how happy and healthy Karl looks. Fantastic story all in all!

I am not sure if you are aware, but my feature of your post has won you a Steem Basic Income Share. You can see it in the link below.

The judge was @wolfhart and the sponsor is @andrewharland. As you probably know by now the contest is hosted by @thedarkhorse.

https://steemit.com/payitforward/@thedarkhorse/everyones-a-winner-week-13-pay-it-foward-curation-contest-6daece219643dest

Good morning, it's great to hear that we won, but I'm not quite sure exactly 'what' I won?

I did do a search on Steemit and found this, Steem Basic Income - Frequently Asked Questions, but it's still not clear where exactly I'd see a difference.

Thanks again, for sponsoring me in the contest -- I'm finding in my short time here that this site has some really nice people -- and you are one of them... thank you again...

SBI is a social experiment here on Steemit to provide a basic income, but in a pay it forward way.

The share entitles both the sponsor and the person being sponsored to an upvote for life on every post they produce.

The more SBI shares you accumulate the larger that upvote will be...

You are able to purchase these share at 1 Steem each a sponsor some of your choice, too! So for example if you sponsored 100 different people you would receive up-votes to the values of 100 shares.

In your case yo just won your first share and should get and upvotes from SBI bot in the next few days... Hopefully you accumulate many many more shares.

So go and say Hi to @andrewharland, @thedarkhorse and @wolfhart - These are good guys and will aid your development on Steemit 100 fold. I'm not going anywhere either so keep those questions coming...

You may want to consider Setting @thedarkhorse as a proxy for selecting your witnesses, which is something I've done. In this way we vote for the same witnesses as he does. This helps get the 'proper' witnesses in place.

Thank you so much for everything you've done. I'm so glad to have finally found a place I can post my writing and opinions that seems like a nice place to be.

I almost quit my first blog site a couple times, due to the nastiness that was there... with the exception of some very close friends I would have left. Then the site closed down permanently about ten months ago.

My second site was an temporary place to post until I found something better... luck brought me here and I couldn't be happier... Thank you

I'll go say hi to @andrewharland, @thedarkhorse and @wolfhart and thank them as well.

I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future...

you can always get a hold of us in the discord. you are already a member, but I have never seen any of your posts in the #post-promotion tab so we could support your posts

https://discord.gg/3VQVnZw

Thank you, I was just looking for an appropriate place to thank you on your page... and now you're here.

We talked the other day, in the discord, about post promotion and I meant to do it... but, well... there's so much to learn here I keep falling into Rabbit Holes where ever I turn. :)

I don't mind, it's my nature to thoroughly research the things that interest me.

I'll have to start doing that, I'm sure it'd help.

Maybe, you can tell me a little about 'resteeming'?

when I am not half asleep and in the discord.

There is a large learning curve here as you stated and it takes time and effort to learn

An African wolf dog known as the Basenji is the only dog in the world that cannot bark.

I remember a friend having one of these dogs, many years ago -- Thanks again for the support.

Hello @krazyuncle!

Congratulations! Thanks for using the #dogsofsteemit hashtag! This post has been chosen as one of the winners for Episode 20 of the #dogsofsteemit challenge.

Can't wait to see more dog photos from you!

My fuzzy buddy is glad you enjoyed his photos, and being the little ham that he is, I'm sure we'll get more out soon... Thank you for your support... it was a pleasant surprise...

I'll be seeing you around...

Dogs really can sense when someone is up to no good. The stranger is also partly responsible for Karl nipping his ankles. You never walk away from an agitated dog. Avoid eye contact and back away slowly.

It's a funny thing about Karl. He is so very social when I take him to the Dog Park (another story.)
But, in his territory, with his pack he is very noisy... as long as I'm home. Otherwise he just runs and hides, I've seen it and others have reported it to me, when I asked if he gave them any trouble.
