Drop in the Ocean [#32] – It's All About Perspective!

Truer words have never been spoken. Yesterday I wrote a post—my second installment in a series I've undertaken as a means to enhance my understanding of a subject matter I'd like to dive deeper into, and needed a commitment like writing about it as a means to keep me focused on gaining a deeper perspective of my studies as opposed to getting sucked into the thrill of the moment.
I received some very positive feedback about the initial post In the series from @futurethinker and was excited to show him the second installment which ultimately wasn't as well received, leaving me to wonder why...
After reading the first and second posts again it's quite clear to me that the initial post was written in my personal voice, and the follow up was written in rather clumsy mashup of the second and third person, and it was far more technical than the initial post. This is an incredibly helpful perspective to gain at this early stage in the game, and I'm grateful to @futurethinker for being straight with me!
Why is this important? Because the posts we share here aren't for us. They're for the community! Be it learning from, inspiring, and entertaining one another, or simply adding valuable original content to the platform increasing the value of our stake in Steemit overall. Our posts, and the thoughts we share aren't about us. Not even a little bit.
So what am I going to do with this new perspective? Well now that I better understand my audience I can adjust the scope and the tone of my posts as a means of creating content that is valuable to the reader.
I'm considering doing a non-technical alternate version of the post in question that is more in line with the introductory post, and moving forward into Sutra 1:2, I will certainly take the perspective gained from the reception of part 2 into mind from word 1. After all, my primary goal of taking part in this community is to grow as a writer!
So what is it that "my audience" here wants from me? I feel it's for me to simply be me.

So good to see a new face dropping in for DITO!! And your post is awesome and so true. The best thing anyone can do for themselves here on the platform is to just be yourself. I do find that writing as if you are sitting talking to an old friend is the best way to go, even when you talk about the technical stuff. You become relatable and people will be swooning to see what comes from your mind next. Nice job on popping your Dito cherry!! I hope you'll be able to join us for the show today.

Thanks for your encouragement. I'm suppose I'm still trying to discover what audience I'd like to create here on the blockchain because your thoughts naturally raise that question, and I can't easily answer it. I suppose in this instance, Post #2 is in essence a pseudo-private journal of sorts, because it's likely that not many people are ever going to read them in their entirety! :D

I think that some content has a given audience, you write a lecture of sorts then you know your audience already and the case would be to find your style which ensures you keep it engaging. Explaining things can be difficult I think because you want to relate facts but also as you do that you want to have them relate to the facts. Even with that you come to new realizations and this is maybe where a structure is important. Being able to mix the personal approach with fact and still have relatable examples if the concept needs explaining.
Post#2 reads very nicely for me and I would say that you might even then find a good balance between how you enjoy writing and having people enjoy your writing.

I'm going to spend some time contemplating which direction I'd like to gravitate towards.
The fact is, if I don't go through the exercise of something like a post #2 (either off chain or on), I'm not going to be able to write the relatable version, sooooooooo.....
I may also play around for a while with some other ideas I've thought of sharing with the community to see what catches on and what doesn't.

I say its totally fine to write journals - some of my posts that I look back on were TOTALLY just little milestones or discoveries meant just for me.
I just happened to post them on the blockchain!
