Steem Monsters Voice Audition

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

Despite the hype, I can't honestly say that I'm that interested in collecting the Steem Monsters cards or playing the game (sorry Aggy). Not cos I hate Steem Monsters but because collecting stuff and gaming are two activities that are pretty low down the list of stuff I like to do. That being said, I do like some of the stories I've read and I like the idea of reading them out loud. This is an aspect of the game I could get into.

During the week I saw a post looking for voice actors and thought "I must remember to have another look at that". However, it was gone from my feed and off my radar until today when I saw this reminder post.

One of the back stories you can read for the audition is actually one of my favourites; @road2nowhere's Twisted Jester.

So guess what I did this afternoon? I downloaded an app onto my phone, did a bunch of practice takes and then recorded this file. It took a while and I did a bunch of re-takes so I also learnt how to edit an audio file.

I really hope I didn't bastardise @road2nowhere's awesome story. I also hope this uploads to dsound and formats the links properly. Hopefully I can edit from steemit if it looks like a dog's breakfast. I guess I'll find out in a minute.

So if I'm not shit and if I make it through the auditions, I might have to go around to @globocop's apartment and use his professional recording studio to do any actual recordings. Where I live is pretty fucking noisy thanks to the constant construction work going on. I'm just lucky I did this on the weekend so it's a bit less noisy than usual.

Listen on soundcloud if the dsound file is rubbish and won't work.

I hope you like it!

I was in the mood to listen to a story when I bumped into your reading. It was running in the background as I worked. I smiled every time you went, “hahaha!” So cute... :)

Your balance is below $0.3. Your account is running low and should be replenished. You have roughly 10 more @dustsweeper votes. Check out the Dustsweeper FAQ here: https://steemit.com/dustsweeper/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-faq

Lol. Thanks Linny. Glad it made you smile.

Nicely done, you! You brought the Twisted Jester to life!

Why thank you. Did sound as professional as your reading though.

Hi @choogirl, I had a look at the link you included to the post, but I can find any rules. After I upload to dsound, how do I use it to enter?
Peace.

You seem to have worked it out.

I just used the same tags as yours. and I found the instructions to post in comments, in the first post. The reminder post left that bit out ^^
Peace.

Great job Choo! I can't say that I'm interested in Steem Monsters either, but it seems like a cool concept for people who like collecting stuff.

I couldn't bear to record myself for this long, this take some balls. Well done!

Thank you! The length doesn't worry me. It's more the editing after that is time consuming. I'd be very surprised even you could read this in one take, with no errors and get the intonations you want. I certainly couldn't.

Goooo choogi...I mean jester!

HA HA HA HA XD

You don't suck ChooChoo, I reckon you could totally voice act or audio book narrate XP

Thanks Ry. Good to know.

I've been trying and failing to open the sound before for hours. I guess DSound/IPFS don't load on iPad O_O;;.

Anyway, now that I finally can hear it, you sound really well, Ms HA HA HA! XD
I really like that you don't speak too fast nor too slow, since most audiobook professionals are too fast for me to enjoy their voices and the stories they're telling. And your voice reminds me a little of the Bride from Kill Bill, which is pretty nice :).

So this is a competition? Then I hope you will win, Element of Death. Good luck ^_^.

Thanks scrawly. I never saw Kill Bill. Not cos it's a movie which I know is where you just went, but cos I hate Quentin Tarantino films. I'll take that as a good thing since someone probably got paid a lot to be in it.

You hate him? D:! Whoaaa... I wonder why.
I'm not really big on him either but I do enjoy most of his movies because of how he writes dialogues and his women characters are not bad.

I think he's too violent. Unnecessarily. And I'm not against violence in films, but his style just really rubs me the wrong way.

I understand.

I guess I'm desensitized already about violence and other bad stuffs because they're so prevalent in movies, but it's good to know your opinion since I wouldn't notice it otherwise :).

I added a soundcloud file as well since you had probs. Should have done that to start with. dsound is normally shit and they didn't upvote me anyway. I think it's a circle jerk most of the time. I notice it they only seem to upvote the same people.

Truly horrifying story, but delightful reading @choogirl! I'm with @linny on the "hahaha"s XD

I wanna do it!!

Hi @choogirl, I wrote a little introduction post in the comments section a little while ago. Did you get it?

No. I don't recall seeing that. What post was it do you remember?
