Does it Matter if you Vote with Low Power on the STEEM Blockchain?

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

Do you vote with low power on the STEEM blockchain? Why or why not?

Why should you worry about your power level?

hnqlnik53o.jpg

My 100% is only 4 cents. The lower my power goes:

  • the lower the votes for others
  • the lower the curation reward for me
  • the less votes I can make for any value
  • the less my vote matters for anyone

How can you check your power easily?

@penguinpablo has got you covered with https://steemnow.com/@yourusername

I keep my power above 90% most of the time and do not go below 80%.

Here is an old post I did on this same topic last year.

https://steemit.com/curation/@fitinfun/what-is-your-steemit-voting-power-and-why-does-it-matter

If you are new to steemit and the idea of voting here, this is a good place to look. You will also see other resources down in the comments, as well as other ideas people have to do well here. Don’t vote on any of it, but I hope it helps you.

I am a proud member of the dtubefamily777 by @nathanmars, and this post is for that initiative. Thank you so much for your attention today and lets all grow together!

It is that time of year when the fitness equipment is out and the diet books are being read. I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods, and you can too!

This is Sharon @fitinfun. I am posting:

Good advice all the way around! Too often people come from places like facebook and think they need to click the upvote button to show they liked something. However, once they realize this isnt facebook, they slow down. Keep getting the word out!

Yes, I did this too when I first got here. I was at 40% the first time I looked. Oh the horror lol.

Haha! Yep, good times... haha.

I make use of Steemworld.
And sometimes I cannot stick to the 80% rule though.
(I'm at 0.03 with a 100% vote.)

I hear you - but your comment is more valuable than a tiny vote and this way your vote will grow faster :)

I used to be much more strict with my voting power I would never go below %90 but this is when I first started Steemit I done that for the first year and few months. But I now have alot more SP than when I first started and more people who I wish to support it's only been recently where I have allowing my SP get further down to about %75. I guess the more SP you get the lower you can afford to let it go down. By the way what is the dtubefamily777 by nathanmars?

It is a bad plan at any level. You can do so much more if you keep your power over 90. I read a post about in my first week here - some big guy did an analysis. You are leaving a lot of money on the table and growing sp way more slowly than you could be - more sp - more help to others and yourself.

By the way what is the dtubefamily777 by nathanmars?

Here is the best post I can give you on it. If you post to dtube - it is worth a look.

Alot of things have changed on Steemit since then, at the time I tested this out I was doing better by going to 75, maybe I should redo the tests as it' also been a while, thanks @fitinfun. Anyway what is this post I should look at explaining the project by nathanmars?

The post tells you want to do to get into the program. It is in a big state of flux now and I am not keeping up. He does video updates and I have no wifi to watch. jade wrote it all out.

Please let me know if you do your analysis. I would love to know what you come up with. I mostly stay above 90 and never below 85. With my tiny vote, if I could do more - I would.

I think it all depends on the SP. There are people that upvote you at 60% voting power and the vote value is worth over $5. For me I try not to go below 85%. I upvote a lot of people that have made a good post and also have a lot of people I autovote. I sometimes open a post I had a good read on and leave it so that I can upvote it latter. I think upvoting people not only for the rewards we receive but also to encourage them to continue.

I keep posts open for the next day too. For little people - My vote at only 1 cent can be encouraging. Some with a lot of rewards on the post will not notice it and then I get no curation reward. In that case, I sometimes look to see if they have another post for lessors rewards and vote that one instead.

I usually kept on voting as long as my vote still have at least 0.001 value in it.
I do realize that my potential to get more curation reward is low therefore I am aiming to increase my SP but I believe that is going slow because my post didn't get much upvote. During weekend I will rest my voting power.

I do love your idea though.

I will soon posts strategies about how to get better upvotes to your own posts when you are now here. I hope that will help too. I have some of those already in the post I links and in the comments over there. I hope it helps, and we all grow together :)

Thanks. When you do, do tag my name so I won't miss the post.

I will be sure to do that - thank you :)

This is a great and very helpful post for many of the junior Steemians and the newbies.

Of course, it's always good to vote (well, except if and when all the candidates are lousy, dishonest, criminal oligarchs). But the higher one's voting power, the greater the effect and the greater the rewards.

When I finally found SteemNow, I realized that I had been over-voting and diluting my power. Now, I pretty much keep it above 80%.

Cheers, and keep posting such encouraging and motivational posts!

Thank you so much. I always see your power when you vote my posts, and you never fail me :)

I love your FitnFunFood blog. It shows great initiative, one that will most likely rewarded with followers and success ... at least given a healthy amount of time for it to grow.

All the best with it!

Thank you very much @majes.tytyty. I hope so. It's a big effort right now and dragging down the other two a bit. So much juggling. but I cannot do two food posts a week and help anyone.

I used to have 0.001 value for my 100% but now I increased my STEEM POWER and now it's worth 0.01 . I am sure I will keep on increasing my SP.
As you mentioned , I never let my voting power go less than 80%

Hi @fitinfun

Does it Matter if you Vote with Low Power on the STEEM Blockchain?

It would be always best to upvote only once our voting power is fully recovered, but sometimes it's not that easy.

Let's say that I could only be very active on Steemit on saturdays and sundays. Obviously I will use those 2 days to engage as much, bringing my voting power to very low levels (40-60%). So then I can let it recharge within 5 days of being absent.

That's just an example.

ps.
I've been surfing youtube a while ago and I've found one influencer which content I found very valuable and interesting and I figured I can share it with you. Especially if you're planning to be an influencer yourself.

It's 8 min long but first 2 min are enough. Check out this youtube video:

Hope you enjoyed NY Celebrations.

I believe that 2019 will be difficult and challenging. Hope you will go through it without any real difficulties. Hope we can all make it through without many problems.

Obviously upvote on the way :-)

Yours
Piotr

The better idea for voting would be to spend 30 minutes a day - or set up an autovoter. You are trying to buy in with influence and then draining that by 25%- 75% when you vote. There are so many reasons this does not help you long term. You will see very few influential people here voting with low power.

If you had higher power - a lower vote percent would go so mach further for you and for the people you vote for.

One very important issue is timing on your votes. If you know you support someone or some program, setting up to vote for them at the 12-15 minute mark will do better for both of you and save you a ton of time for your weekend spurts if that is the only think you can do.

Here's a post about this autovoting idea and how I do it. Talk to @majes.tytyty. He is on this same page and very long term successful here. I am glad you two got to be friends.

I'm sorry - I cannot watch movies. I am screwed for wifi time already and I am not even 1/3 of the way through the month. @dtube uploading on three accounts is killing me. I even have my media turned off so photos do not load.

Thank you so much for all of your votes. But I wish you would hold of and keep your power up! You should also post more often - update about your delegated people maybe? This would do a lot for you all the way around. It's all about your presence here. If you do not have posts on your feed - people think you are not influential.

Dear @fitinfun

Please try to understand, that for many of us Steemit is not source of income and we've our businesses and stuff that we need to provide with jobs.

So I usually engage on Steemit on weekends since I know that monday-friday most often I will not have a chance to do it.

Again, thank you for your concern but after all those are my own resources that I've invested in STEEM POWER and I manage them the best way I can. Knowing that steemit is just a passion and it is not my priority.

You should also post more often - update about your delegated people maybe? This would do a lot for you all the way around. It's all about your presence here. If you do not have posts on your feed - people think you are not influential.

You're very wrong my dear. I'm a full time marketer for many years already and this is not how it works. I strongly believe that you will not find more than 2-3 people on Steemit who managed to reach my level of engagement with audience (to the point that I know over 80 people already via email) and put as much time and effort to build community as I did.

I know you mean well, but I would like us to drop this topic. I appreciate your tips and suggestions.

All the best
piotr

@fitinfun thank you for the info, I did not know people don't like my nothing votes, I will stop.

I am so happy to here that @myjob. Try the curation league of @abh12345 to find out how to make your smaller vote count. It's all about growing your sp here. I am so glad you saw this post. Look at the other one I linked and ask me questions if you have them. You made it to 50 rep, so you can succeed here :)

Oh, i love that thing! I wont be placing this week, but i enjoy seeing how well im doing.

Yes, it's so helpful and the comments each week give you clues to how others do so well :)

Yeah, just love cheering everyone on.

@fitinfun I read your older post before commenting, I have a question, I power up my sp every time I have any is this the correct thing to do, or should I let my sp build? I have the other set on 100% not 50/50 and I guess it is best not to vote since my vote is worth nothing but it is at 100%

I stay at 50/50. There are ways to spend your STEEM and if it is locked in the SP you cannot get it. Powering up a few steem at your low amount is not a good way to go imo.

Some things to spend STEEM on are:

  • sbi shares (steembasicincome) - also try to win these.
  • @qurator membership - 4 steem once you have two to three weeks of good posts.
  • leasing delegated sp.
@blocktrades will lease to anyone - @minnowbooster is the luck of someone wanting to support you.

You are going to make it @myjob! Keep asking questions. You do need to vote - but vote wisely. I will write a post on that very soon.

Here's another old post - tons of links. Ask questions! you are awesome :)
