You described it absolutely right man! If you have a great idea, keep it mostly secret until the real goLive and then work hard on the developement and userexperience in the first place to reduce the chance of any copycat could make a better product. We are living in super fast times and several places around the world have smart and hardworking people who are brilliant in copying ideas.

Absolutely right and a big factor for most of the startups especially on steem. But with good networking we can find contacts who trust us and our capabilities. We can ask them in secret for funding before executing the ideas. The working before any great idea to gain more good relations to valuable people is as important as the idea itself.
I have to agree. The budgeting and support follows a strong idea with a stronger team behind it.
Networking has become more crucial than anything in these times.
We have a saying "I know someone who knows someone" as we dial on the phone, nothing else matters at that time.
