A Question About Dtube Thumbnails...steemCreated with Sketch.

What is your opinion on what makes a good Dtube thumbnail? It’s pretty much the first impression of a video so it’s pretty important, right?

....and thank you @nathanmars

I think it is important. It is a way to tell people what to expect and it can become your branding. If it shows up in a feed, people will recognize after a while what is yours.

I've seen some great thumbnails but the only way I could get a thumbnail to work on my video was too take a screen shot of the video playing, they upload that. Prolly my shitty Android phone.

Defiantly something that pops. Im new to Dtube, but I have been using pics that are relevant but pop.

When I see a good thumbnail, to me it says if someone is a quality creator or not. Kind of like a good book cover.

For me, I try to make it so my text is big and readable. I like to use either dark text and a light background, or the opposite. If you have photoshop, bright text and a deep shadow works great as a start.

A good thumbnail will catch my attention.

Thumbnails are very important. They catch attention. I highly suggesting spending time on thumbnails. I use yellow font and Impact font, also Be sure to put your face in it, brand recognition. People will become familiar with your face. Happy to see you using the logo.

Thanks for your reply and for reminding me to thank @onelovedtube for the use of the logo!

Honestly when it comes to clicking things I just want the thumbnail to be a good snapshot of what it is to expect, the thesis of the video, or a taste to spike curiosity. I like thumbnails that also represent the creators personality, really fancy and professionally done ones can be nice too but I prefer thumbnails that are original, unique and personal to who i am watching more.

If it's a vlog, I think a thumbnail would do good to show kinda what's going on in the vlog.

If it's a show, it can have a more consistent, fixed theme, but some element of the episode could be incorporated.

I also like especially artsy thumbnails. Something with a deep creative flare tells me the person has something important to say.

But if I really like the creator they could just have LOL in white over black and I would watch it. They could have the same picture over and over again with diff text and I'd watch it too. Some things are unconditional and you would fiercely defend and proclaim their genius even if their thumbnail was literally a picture of poo. LOL
