Why Being In School is Important (Maybe 1 of 3)

_{Since this would be too long to read if I post everything I have to say here, I will instead divide it in two (or three?) parts. The second part will be the benefits of schools or the school system.}

I am writing this because I've been seeing a few posts around here about how schools should be abolished, or people should stay out of schools because there is internet, etc. Those few posts I've seen are from people who disliked school at a young age.

But if those same people then suggest to come up with a community education system, what difference would that be to other schools? That is just another form of a school, like day care! Or if you study through the internet alone, what then of the scientists and engineers we have today? Will they learn all they have learned from the internet alone.

Just because something is not right for a few people doesn't mean it's wrong for the general public too.

Yes we are all entitled to our own opinion here in Steemit. Why do you think porn is allowed on this site? So I will share my opinion on this school/education topic as well.

Not everyone learns the same way. If any student gets to read this, if you don't want to go to school then ask yourself why? Do you think learning everything by yourself is better than being in school?

Do you prefer to be home schooled or do you just want a different school environment? Do you think moving to another school will keep you away from the people you don't want to interact with? Are those same types of personalities not in other places too?

Don't get me wrong, going to school will provide general education and hone your social skills too which are important when you grow up. They say kids learn faster than adults right? If you don't learn about different things as a kid then maybe you will just be an expert at one thing and not know about more things. If you don't develop your social skills early on then you're going to have a tough adult life.

Later on I will enumerate the benefits of going to school and having an education system. But first some self reflection my dear readers. You can think about this for yourself or you can share your response via another post too, it's up to you.

As an adult, think back on your school days.

What were the best and important things and experiences you learned growing up and being in school? Would you exchange those experiences to being home schooled or not being in school at all?

For students who are studying in school right now

What are the best things you can say about being in school that you would not have experienced/or will experience anywhere else?

Your answers my dear readers will guide you on why a school system is important.

I am not against homeschooling (and it is a different topic altogether) but sometimes it can seem like an overprotective action by parents. There are parents who don't want their kids to be like other people in their area. Well removing them from schools can ostracize your kids even more from the general public. How can you share your values and ideas through your kid/s if you don't let them interact with other people their age?

Yeah you can criticize me for not understanding because I don't have kids yada yada yada but hey I have my opinion like you do. I was a kid once too.

What I Think About Schools

Schools are like the internet of the old days. It is a repository of age old knowledge passed down from each generation. It is also updated from time to time when there are new discoveries or events, etc.

In the days when there were no internet, people had to buy encyclopedias to learn about certain things and topics. It had more detail and are well researched than simple school textbooks. Not even everything taught in schools are in schools. Does it mean we didn't need to go to school back then if we had encyclopedias? I think not.

Let me make this clear: This article is not about who is right or wrong.

This is about the need to upgrade the school systems worldwide. Our advanced technology seems to make the old and established school systems unfit for the current or more technologically advanced generation.

To continue this topic, I will be posting more in my next article. I do not want to post a very long one now that no one will be patient to read. Lol. Or maybe I will delete this here later on and post it in the other site. Haha.
