Anytime i tried tuning my 5 string bass guitar to the standard tuning of B E A D G always end up breaking one of the string..so i decided to tune to E A D G C. I want to know if it makes any difference.
I haven't really played a ton of bass yet sorry. I would check youtube and forums. Perhaps you are tuning the strings in too high an octive? I am not sure how common it is for bass strings to break? My theory is you tuned it in an octive too high. The basses I have had have always been 4 string too.
