Inside the mind of Bozz: More Friday ThoughtssteemCreated with Sketch.

in #esteem5 years ago

Don't let the title fool you, this isn't an anatomy lesson. In fact, I started the day thinking I was going to be posting about the sandwhich you see here. It's called the Miggy's Melt named after baseball player Miguel Cabrerra.

According to the menu it consists of:

Our Certified Angus Beef® burger topped with melted Swiss cheese, house made onion jam, a Founders Solid Gold Onion Ring, sautéed onions and our signature Southern Slammer sauce served on a grilled, locally-baked, marbled rye.

My wife and I were out to eat the other day and I got this fantastic sandwhich. I was going to submit it as part of the #steemitsandwichcontest hosted by @jaybird, but I quickly realized I didn't have the sign to validate my entry as rule number 3 states here so I quickly gave up on that and just decided to post a picture of it here.

Where is my mind?

My mind is pretty random. If you are looking for something sequential that you can follow easily, this post might not be your jam.

If you are looking for something that jumps around a little more a la Slaughterhouse Five, then you are totally in the right place.

With my original plans for a post out the window, I decided I am going to just talk about some random stuff that is going on in my head and post some pictures that I have taken over the years.

I hope you are okay with that. I am not quite sure how she does it, but @mrsbozz has been pretty understanding after all of these years. There are occasionally times that I start at one subject and end up someplace totally different. Usually she just lets it slide. Sometimes though she stops me and says "wait, how did we get from there to here". Probably 99% of the time I can walk her through my thought process that led me from one place to the next.

Here is a great made up example of how a conversation might go... She might say "honey the car needs air in one of the tires". Then I might reply with "okay, I need to buy some new t-shirts".

It sounds totally unrelated at first, but what you don't realize is talking about the car made me think of driving the car and the other day when I was driving the car I passed by a laundromat. The laundromat reminded me that three days ago when I was doing laundry I noticed some of my t-shirts had holes in them and therefore I need new t-shirts.

When I type it out like that, it doesn't seem so crazy, but trust me when it happens in real time, I imagine it can be pretty daunting.

@mrsbozz

Speaking of @mrsbozz, her account has been doing pretty well. Besides the small amount of SP that I delegated to her so I could play Steem Monsters with her account, she has been doing quite well on her own.

She doesn't post anything, but when she has some free time, she has been laying down some wisdom over on musing.io.

With the delegation that Musing has received, she has been able to pull in some pretty decent rewards. Her account is growing much quicker than mine did when I first started. I kind of wish musing.io had been around back then!

Because she doesn't post that frequently and the account is mainly used for Steem Monsters, I wanted to do something to make use of her VP that is just sitting there. With that in mind, I am considering taking a page from @slobberchops and his @chops.support account and start setting up some auto-votes for users that are trying hard and publishing great content, but maybe aren't getting the rewards they deserve.

I manage the @mrsbozz account and besides a couple of donated shares to @steembasicincome, all of her rewards are powered up. In the span of just a month or so, she is already close to 50 SP which I think is pretty impressive given these times.

Initally, I started thinking about projects like GoFundMe where even if a million people only gave a small amount, you can still end up with a pretty large number at the end. I was thinking about asking for small delegations. If I could get 100 people to delegate 10 SP each, then her account would be well on it's way to giving out some decent upvotes.

I don't want to beg for delegations though, so for now I will just grow her account organically, hopefully through the Holiday season things die down a little for her at work and she can answer some more questions on Musing.io!

If you know of an underappreciated Steemian who you think I should consider for one of the small upvotes she has to give, link them in the comments. I will give them a look and I just might add them to the @mrsbozz autovote.

Speaking of rewards

If you take a look at my feed you will notice that I have been selecting to recieve more of my rewards as a 100% power up lately.

I wrote a post a week or so ago asking for advice about taking this step and the answers I got were pretty vague.

I decided to just go ahead and do it. One of the reasons is because posts aren't being paid out in SP and SBD anymore. Since the price of STEEM and the price of SP are always the same, there is really not benefit unless you wanted to keep some STEEM liquid to pay for things or donate SBI shares.

Another reason I decide to take this step was just to show that I am committed to this platform. There really is no better testimony about your commitment to STEEM than by powering up your rewards into SP so that you can grow your account and give back to others on the platform.

Like @mrsbozz, I also answer questions on Musing.io and the answers that you post are considered comments, so I still will be getting some liquid STEEM from those posts that I can either power up or use to buy SBI shares.

Speaking of comments

I try to do my best to leave well thought out constructive comments when I am commenting on other people's posts. In fact in my early days on Steemit, I wrote a couple of posts about what constitues a good comment.

I think we all know what spam comments are. Those quippy one liners that simply say "nice post" or "beautiful picture". While true, most posters are usually looking for something a little meatier than that. What if you know the poster though? Maybe not in real life, but what if you have been following them for half a year now and at that moment in time, you just don't have anything more than that to say to them.

Personally, I want to believe it is okay. If you have built a rapport with that person over the months or years, I want to believe that they will understand you aren't just spamming when you only leave a sentence or less comment.

Is that a reasonable assumption? What do you think Steemians? If you have an established relationship with another Steemian is it okay to let them know you appreciate their post without having to write a book to them about it?

Am I totally off base?

I feel like there was one more topic I wanted to cover in this post, but to quote the Pixies again "Where is my mind?"

That sandwich looked tasty! Reading through your post, I learnt about musing.io and had a look at it. This might be something I would give a try. Also I think it's pretty cool that your wife joined Steemit and both of you are active on this platform.

Thanks, she isn't quite as active as me, but she hears all about everything that is going on from me. I'd like to grow her account to the point that I can start giving people some decent upvotes with it.

Yeah, I do not think that it is the same to receive a short comment from a person you know and that whom you do not know. Some people I know for almost a year now and with just a few words they can get their message across or show encouragement and support. I do not ignore them. On the other hand, if a stranger leaves me that kind of message yeah, I would probably ignore it. There is also the thing with commenting the photos and short poems. Sometimes I get lost for words and all I can say are praises :)

Good points! Glad to know I am not totally in the wrong neighborhood with my thinking.

First off the sandwich sounds and looks so good, I think your mind and mine work in similar ways I can bounce from one thing to another in a way that makes sense to me but not always to others, Luckily I to have a wife that knows thats how I roll

She is indeed a treasure then. I have one of my own and consider myself very blessed!

Yes we are both truly blessed have a great Saturday

As nice as that sandwich is, my eyes are drawn to the tater tots :) SteemMonsters! - I have to get back on that soon, fun game, I'm looking forward to the Steem earning potential from it.

I am too! Hopefully prices turn around soon so that the market gets a little better for some of the cards that I am holding. That would be awesome. They do make some good tots at this place. It's usually a must to order them whenever we go there!

Nice Post! Great Pictures!

Ahhhhh. I couldn't do it. Ahahahahaha

I read through it twice, but I'm confused. Where is the abnormal conversation?

The miggy looks good, but I'm guessing I've had my last Goldschmidt burger in Phoenix.

The last couple of days haven't been my best at leaving comments. Like you I try to leave something thoughtful on the really great content I see. Some days, for what ever reason, it just doesn't happen. That is particularly when I hope that people that I normally leave 'hard' comments on can understand that I read the post and liked it, but my brain just isn't in comment mode. I need new T-Shirts.
