TIME TO BE A PROPER COMMUNITY
I am sure most of you are aware of @ned 's anouncement last night. The trimming of Steemit Inc's staff by 70 percent is huge, but not the end of the road. There must have been a good reason fot it and coulldn't have been easy.
Times are tough and no more so in the crypto world at the moment. Things can change over night as we all know, but it doesn't seem like that for now. Most people were counting on the bear market to end by now and the end of year bull run to materialize. This doesn't look like it and this to me is further confirmation by Steemit Inc's actions.
The users that are on Steemit now are all community orientated and this would rock most of them just a little.The ones that have invested heavily not only in time but money would be swaying a tad this morning. I am sure plenty of discussions are happening on what to do.I don't see this as overly bad because Steem has a future and if Steem is feeling the pinch then maybe the coins with no use will slowly disappear altogether.
We as a community now need to be closer than ever and make sure this works. Too much time and money has been invested to just let things slide. My time is precious to me and 9 months is not small.It may be small compared against other users who have been here over 2 years ,but I feel the same about this place as you all do.
Personally I don't think it will be long before the markets turn again but then how long is a piece of string. Surely in January /February with Bakkt and Fidelity coming into crypto it will turn things on it's head. Maybe we have reached rock bottom and this will bring us all closer together.
I think that an option could have been for Steemit Inc to use their massive account holding more than 40 Million SP ,doing a weekly upvote to hang on to their staff. No one here would complain and would understand. It just baffles me why this wasn't considered as an option. We could all ride the storm out together.Ned must have been considering this for some time and this wasn't an overnight decision.
My concern is what is going to happen now? Will SMT's be delayed and pushed back now ,or will we remain on track. Time will tell and I am still positive with this place.
I'm hoping this tighter ship will keep to the plans and gain encouragement from the fact they are still there!
I hope so and maybe concentrating on what is important is the key now.

I see quite a bit of, not so constructive criticism towards @ned after his announcement, but it's only my opinion that people should be a bit more understanding, and grateful.
Some of the criticism is understandable, but let look at the facts. @ned is a young entrepreneur who revolutionized an idea which flourished into an entire ecosystem. In my mind, that deserves some credit. Were mistakes made along the way? Of course, in the eye's of many there were some mistakes, including my own opinion, but I don't begrudge the man, because his innovative creation helped me in a way that money alone, cannot. We need to remember what is truly valuable here, and not focus entirely on the monetary aspects.
Community is the most important aspect of the Steem blockchain, in my humble opinion, and it's only just begun.

Constructive criticism is ok. Negativity is not needed now, but coming together and working this out properly and no cock ups.

I think SMTs will have to be delayed. It would make sense not to rush into it without making sure it was perfectly executed.
I suspect we are near bottom also and that God time are a coming for all :0)
I agree delaying and making sure is always better. There is no rush as they said from March but that doesn't mean the first of March.

I just read the announcement about an hour ago and it doesn’t look good but maybe they need to stop and take a look at the state of the network and figure out how to get more people in which will be better for all of us in the long run
