RE: Too Many Questions? Asking For A Friend: Food Fight Friday

in #fff5 years ago

The questions you raise, and the answers to these questions seem to vary depending on who you are getting the advice from.
Traditional doctors tell you to just take this pill or that pill. It is the old band aid approach, never really addressing the issues.
Just prior to reading your post, I read an article about how the small farmer is disappearing and super-farms are taking their place. As with all industries, as they become more powerful and dominate a larger part of the market, their only concern is the bottom line.
Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and genetically engineered fruits and vegetables are almost impossible to get away from.
Sugar is added to every processed food, and coupled with the issues listed above, finding answers to consuming a healthy diet is almost a full time job in it's self.
For those of us that are aware of these issues, and choose to be proactive in eating healthy, at least have a fighting chance. But, in the big picture, more people than not, eat a diet that doesn't promote health.
With the pace of life so exhausting, many people can't find the time in their schedule to prepare a meal, never mind educate themselves on the nutritional value of what they are putting into their mouth.
Obesity is a common cause for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Statitics in the states tell us that obesity is so prevalent that it has reached epidemic proportions. 1 out of every 3 adults is considered obese, that is 78 million people. Even more frightening is that 17% of children in the states fall into this categeory, that equates to 17 million kids.
Those of us who look for the answers to the problems we face with our diet are the fortunate ones. Kids on the other hand have little say in what they consume, and I am afraid that they are in for a life long battle with these issues.
Wonderful #fff post.

Everything you just said is spot on. The scary part is when you have issues but eat healthy, exercise, and are seemingly fit from the outside… I think it’s a compound effect. It’s all of the junk you’ve lived on you’re entire life (minus the 4 or 5 most recent years) coupled with smoking, drinking, dieting, and whatever other abuse you put your body through for decades. What happens if you’ve been living a harmful lifestyle for far longer than you’ve been living a healthy one? I don’t know, the entire food, beverage, meat, “health” industries are corrupt and perverse.

Our kids are obese because we live in a society where coke a-cola is cheaper than a bottle of water, where an apple costs $1.75 and a happy meal costs $1.00… when a child’s stomach is empty and Mom and Dad only have a couple bucks guess what that child is going to get. Dandays and I spent so much money on food when we lived in the states. We didn’t have children so we could do that but it’s insane. It’s unfair and it’s gross. The “health” industry, the medical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the food industry doesn’t care because they are all in the “business” of making money, not looking out for people. Its a damn shame. Anyway, rant over. Haha

I’m so glad you liked my post @thebigsweed! I really appreciate your comments.

I like ranting @puravidaville, I tend to rant a lot when I am passionate about something.

Haha… my thumbs go so fast during my rants that after I re read what I’ve commented I’m often embarrassed by the amount of typos 🤦🏼‍♀️ The price you pay for typing as passionately as you’d speak it. Thanks Sweed!
