I didn't use it, I almost lost it. (Then I ate some Jalapeño peppers and lost it) 100 Reps - Day 51 - 5/10/18

After 2 days of skipping out on #fitnesschallenge by @steemmatt, I am back at it with day 51 (really day 58 with 7 total skip days). Those two days was enough to make me want to stop due to laziness alone (amongst other things) but I think that if I can soldier through and get back on the horse, you can get started on the #fitnesschallenge if you haven't already.

While exercising daily can be exhausting, it is proving to be quite difficult to continuously work out no matter the circumstance. Skipping a day is almost inevitable, however; I have to give it to some of the guys doing the #fitnesschallenge that are going strong every day. I've also updated my "Motivation" section because the last week I've been really stressed out so I've been smoking cigarettes again. I really don't want to get back into that habbit and I need to find a way to stop again. I've also been dealing with bullshit from those who are closest to me, so it's been rather difficult to keep my head up. I've heard that working out helps the stress and I believe that it has helped me get through a lot since I've started but the last two days wasn't gonna cut it.

My Daily Challenge Completed

Taking two days off feels like starting over. While I can still perform more reps then I could, I am still pretty tired so I went with 100 reps today as I am not 100% motivated. Regardless of motivation or the situation, I also had some pretty serious shin splints from all the air squats I've been doing. I believe it was shin splints. My shin muscles were in pain, but all is good now so I'm back at it.

  • 50 Air Squats
  • 50 Leg Raises

Meals

Had to take the wife to an appointment this morning so by lunch time I was starved. She made us sausage and egg burritos. At first I was just gonna eat scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage but she busted out the burritos, hot sauce and the jar of jalapeño peppers. I don't know why humans do this to themselves. I knew it was going to be a bad idea, I said it was going to be a bad idea, but I went at it anyways. The flavor was absolutely amazing but all I could think of was the dreaded hour. 3 egg and sausage burritos with hot sauce and 3 little slices of jalapeños in each one. I was so hungry that I didn't take a picture, but you could imagine what it looked and felt like coming out. (How's this for a shit post?)

Dinner was better and less risky. Pork chops with Shells'N'Cheese and some steamed broccoli and cauliflower. I have to say that it feels good to eat something that I won't regret later.

My Motivation

So after a good few months of not smoking I kind of picked it up again. Neglected to realize that I still had this cigarette section in my workouts, it's something that I'll have to start over. Even today I had a cigarette and it sucks. I don't want to get back into that, so I am back on the quitting horse. I was ashamed to have picked a cancer stick up again, so I am adding a counter here. As of this post I haven't had any cigarettes, so tomorrow when I post my exercise I will hopefully start a counter on how many days I've gone without. Since my cravings came often and working out was exhausting, eventually I caved. So "doing reps" whenever I get a craving just doesn't work. I need to find a different motivating factor so here's to day one without nicotine (again). Let's hope I can do one day. I remember when I first quit every time I got a craving I would just clean. I think this may work as it kept my hands busy, so I'll try that again. Something has me bored. I haven't really enjoyed the outdoors as much as I want to and I've missed out completely on scrapping peoples spring cleaning garbage while I watch the scrapper across the street pull in with truckloads every hour.

When I joined Steemit I made the decision to always Power-Up my earnings. For now, payouts are set to 50/50 but you bet I will convert & Power Up! Besides internal transfers, I have never cashed out and don't plan on it! Power-Up only!

I know you want to be nicotine free. It's a tough addiction. I've been a e-liquid user exclusively for 2 years now and have completely quit real cigarettes. Eventually I want to quit nicotine altogether. The thing is about the e-liquid is the quality is so questionable and it does have chemicals in it depending on the kind one buys. When I get the "good stuff" (no propylene glycol just pure veg glycerine) I feel a lot better but it's expensive and takes a while to ship. The best thing though about it is it doesn't stink and I no longer have a hack cough. When I do get sick it's a lot less time being sick. I don't wanna convince you to try it if you can quit the regular way but wanted to share that I know what you're going through.

And re: peppers awww! You ever watch that show First we Feast where the host interviews people while eating hot wings? Good show!

I've tried e-cigs in the past but I've never tried the "good stuff". People have recommended it to me but I know that even the good stuff isn't pleasant. The problem with the ecigs for me is that when I have it I puff away all day long like it's nobody's business so I end up getting more nicotine then I really want. The vapor also gives me an insane amount of heartburn. The other problem is my wife smokes and isn't looking to quit so they're always around. I do good at avoiding them, and haven't had a cig since I posted this. I've also eaten that plate of food so right now I'm fighting through the desire to have an after dinner cig. Unfortunately because I've tried e-cigs already I gotta do it the regular way. I did it cold turkey no problem and I let stress get to me, so I gotta try again.

I have heard about that show too, it's hilarious watching their reactions! I wouldn't want to be them when it comes out :P
