Interesting how some plants manage to "scrape out a living" in the most inhospitable places. Reminds me a little of some of the scrubby things that grew in Texas when we lived there... although those were all extremely thorny/spiny and would definitely NOT be used as mattress filling!

I have seen pictures of Texas scrub and it is definitely not comfortable. There's an ecological niche for every plant although this one can easily become an invasive pest
