The Night Before

As the co socials director for a uni society, I organised a night out for some serious team bonding. Booking an apartment in Pyrmont, a walk away from Darling Harbour and the STAR casino, it was a central location for everyone to finally let loose and have one memorable night before all the final exam studying began. It was an enjoyable night, and although the gender ratio was slightly off (it became more of a girls night out), it was a fun time getting to know everyone better and getting our cardio on by dancing the night away at a nearby club.

Seeing Green

Nothing sounds better than brunch to relieve the groggy feeling from a night out. A popular cafe, Social Brew, was only a walk away and the perfect cure for our sleepy selves.

To start off, everyone seemed to be thinking green, opting for either the super food smoothie with avo, apple, kale, banana, almond milk, yoghurt and honey, OR the green apple juice.

Yum in My Tum

My friend ordered this incredible collaboration of flavours - strawberry pancakes and bacon! How aesthetically pleasing does it look?!

Now I didn't need to try this to know that the combo would be pretty damn delicious. I mean, take french fries and soft serves - an unexpected but perfect match.

I shared two dishes with @nishyfishy. An Angus Steak sandwich with horseradish mayo and soft shell crab tacos with homemade harissa mayo, red carrot slaw and pickled chilli. We also shared a white chocolate milkshake.

Final Foodie Thoughts

Overall it was a really nice place to dine and chat with everyone. My favourite was the soft shell tacos, hands down!
Woweee, it was a crazy explosion of flavour in my mouth! I highly recommend this dish. The white chocolate milkshake was a little too sweet for my liking. However, if you are devouring a reasonably savoury dish that is salted, it would be quite nice to balance that out with a sweet drink.

It wasn't a particularly spectacular food experience that I would plan a trip to the city just to visit this cafe. That said, if I were to be around Pyrmont, you might find me at this cafe sipping on a super healthy juice with my soft shell crab tacos.
