Change your diet, change your life!

My dear Steemians,

Today I want to talk to you about a subject that is important to me: FOOD & DIET!

20180705_115958-02-01.jpeg

Since I discovered my many food intolerances, I did research on food and found some amazing things about the food!
This is a subject that I think about every day. I have to be careful about my eating habits all the time so that I do not get sick anymore. If I had known of this information before developing all these intolerances I think it would not happen.

Fortunately, I have never had any overweight problems because I do a lot of sport (thank you dance 🙌). But, I had poor nutrition: too much sugar, foods containing gluten (pasta, bread ...), too much milk products4rs (cheese, yogurts ...) and not enough good protein, nutrients, minerals...
As a result, I always felt tired and down on energy.

I had to explain to my friends and family about my new "diet" because they do not understand this sudden change. They thought I had gone crazy since I left Paris to live in Barcelona =D.

This total change of diet (gluten & lactose-free) was difficult to accept at first but finally, I think it is a very good thing because I have never felt so good! I feel better, more energetic, more motivated every day!

I realize today that I did not know anything about food before.
That's why I wanted to share this with you my friends Steemians. It is important for me to have your comments and opinions, so feel free to comment! I am open to debate only if it is constructive. Thank you! :)

Do you think that heated debates in the family or among friends are reserved for political subjects?
Well, it's not! Just talk about food and the heated DEBATE is assured! XD

How to provoke a big debate? It's simple, just start with a discreet allusion to the advantages or disadvantages of a healthy diet.

But why is food so controversial?

First of all, for a very simple reason that I could check for myself. For most people, when you criticize their diet, you criticize themselves and their lifestyle directly. Try, and you will see!

Another reason is the cultural field. In France for example, the cultural dimension is very important and the food is totally part of it!

For several generations, simplistic and FALSE IDEAS on nutrition have been widespread.
Since my childhood, I have heard:

  • "Drinking milk is essential for having strong bones."
  • "A calorie = a calorie, whatever its nature."
  • "Fats are the only ones responsible for being overweight."
  • "Our muscles are made of protein, the proteins are in the meat, therefore, without meat, no muscle."

If you are used to considering these statements, please PLEASE check your sources and come to talk to me :D.

Here are some arguments to consider:

I'm not an activist for the vegan cause. I just realized at the age of 30 that industrial companies are putting misconceptions in people's heads to push us to consume more. Why? Money, money...

They are also the ones who finance food studies that are broadcast in droves. Serious studies are hidden and you have to go find them.

This is A SCANDAL because the poor diet is a huge problem nowadays!

I just want to try, at my level, to inform my entourage. Now you are part of my entourage, so it was important for me to write about it! Thank you for reading me, even if you eat animal products! I do not exclude anyone, I'm just trying to help people feel better;)

Your goal in life is to be happy ???

Yes, but to reach happiness, your body and mind need your help! It's never too late to start my friends !!! Today is a good day !!!

As Juvenal said:

"A healthy mind in a healthy body"

GOOD DIET = FEEL GOOD = LIFE IN PINK !!!

Much love from Barcelona ❤

Very well said! My family doesn't really argue with me as they know it would not change my choices. On the other hand they don't listen to me when I'm telling them why I do it and why I think they should do it too. So I stopped. And I can only hope that once they will understand and change their lives.

I became vegan for animals but I enjoy the health benefits too. As you I have learned so much about the food and finally I can make conscious decisions about what I put in my mouth. I feel better than every before :)

Thank you for sharing. Your community is very big so I'm glad that you are spreading the word!

Cheers to vegans all over the world!

My experience is quite different, no surprise, since my genetics are likely quite different. 😀

Because of fear of heart disease, I tried to cut out meat and eggs and dairy. Yet every 2 weeks or so, I just had to have some meat, like a juicy hamburger. That would set my systems back to normal. Found out that I was starving myself of protein. And only meat sources could fulfill that. Plus I still got heart disease anyway. Since going back on meat, I've been a whole lot healthier. And it was the junk carbs that was doing me in.

In addition, many fruits and vegetables are 50% or more less nutritious than they were in 1950. At least in the USA... So in my mind, supplementation is a must.

Excellent article. I really liked it. Good luck to you and Love.

I think it is very important to have a balanced diet, and if you feel good and your body and mind work perfectly you must trust that you are doing the best for you, so you have criticism of people, first is your health and wellbeing. Thanks for sharing your experience. to live life, health, good nutrition and sports.

You made a good decision about new diet. What we are used to hearing, we usually think that's right. That's why, we don't check that out.

If we want to make change in our life, we need to take conscious decision. It might feel uncomfortable at the beginning, but we will get used to it. Thank you @flamingirl for sharing this!

thanks for sharing such a great content hope i will change my diet from today byself

posts with tempting writing

Very well said on all accounts. Great post. Thank goodness more people are waking up to the truth about diet. The more people that grow their own food the better too to get the most nutrition out of all our fruits and veggies!! Resteemed

Good post. i have suffered from i.b.s. most of my life and recently was diagnosed with diverticulosis.
I was told to change my diet to low FODMAP , gluten free, wheat free and dairy free.

Since the diet my i.b.s. is nearly non-existent :-)
Not gone vegan or vegetarien yet but if anyone suffers from i.b.s. or stomache problems try low FODMAP. it only took 3 days for my symptoms to improve.

Low fodmap foods....
