Oh cool so since you have all the stuff what system you going to be cultivating with?
Since I don't have the most important part of the system, the living culture itself, I won't be cultivating anything.
One of the reasons it's difficult to buy live cultures is because so many strains are copy righted to specific companies. Even a little bit, like a ounces, an be cultivated into barrels in and than sold to the masses. So these algae companies want people to pay them more money if they produce more than they use themselves.
I was heavily invested in starting a spirulina farm a couple years ago and traveled to WuHan in China to meet some of the world's top scientists in the field. YOu can check out those posts here if you're interested. There maybe some links in there that lead to where you can live cultures.

I know you can get small samples from a company in Texas but the name alludes me at the moment. Your best bet to get live cultures near you, is to get on some Spirulina forums, which you might be already, and ask people there if they can send you some from there own supply, make a deal. ^^
Also you can buy live cultures on Amazon used to feed fish. Though if it takes more than 3 days to arrive the culture could dead or most it. Best to do that in the summer as Spirulina dies in cold weather. The stuff they feed fish is the same people eat. ^^
