It is just a shame that so many outsource their decisions to authorities

There it is.
I don't care what society you name that has an or had an oppressive government it all goes back to the people who failed to take responsibility for their lives and pass it to the government. A little here and there adds up quickly.

it's never too late to make a change if the will is there to take personnel responsibility.
