Gods Unchained first impressions

in #games5 years ago

After finishing my daily quest on Steemmonsters I felt like trying my luck a bit and climbing the ranks...did not work at all and after a loosing streak, a win here and there I was kind of frustrated and decided today is not the day.

Per accident I stumbled upon a post mentioning "Gods Unchained"

A card game run on ETH afaik. I have heard of it but never looked into it.

Today I played a bit and I have to say it is not bad. My first impression is actually pretty good.

You can start to play with 5 starter decks, practise against the A.I or jump into a ranked match.

The game works similar to Hearthstone. You play creatures, spells or weapons and try to bring your opponents life to 0.

So pretty much as every Trading Card Game I know...

You dont play lands like in magic and you get more mana each turn.

The creatures have different abilities and stats like in Steemmonsters but you can decide who they attack.

So far the game is in beta and they made the smart decision that your ref link is at the same time a beta key you give away.

For me it is too early to say if the game is actually good but as mentioned the first impressions are positive, the sound is good, the design of the cards etc. but I cant say much on balance of the game itself etc.

They mention same as Steemmonsters cards are limited and some seem to be very expensive but I afaik there is no secondary market yet but you earn free packs by leveling up so it has this free lottery thing going on as well.

If you like games Steemmonsters, Hearthstone or Magic or just want to gamble a bit with your free rewards and hope you get lucky I say give it a try and of course I would not be sad if you would use my link down below.

"Gods Unchained is a new competitive trading card game backed by Coinbase and led by the former Director of Magic the Gathering: Arena. The cards are real world tradable in an open economy, remember their stats and history, and you'll be able to play for keeps and earn valuable cards. Gods Unchained is free to play and currently in beta. You need to be invited to get in, but if you're interested in trying it you're welcome to use my beta key! https://godsunchained.com?beta-key=EhXZfZtgtX"

I tried it out. Found the game to be quite laggy despite this being a very well equipped 4.6 ghz gaming PC. The cards would not work, despite having the mana pool to use them. And the opponents on the AI and PvP were pretty much 2-shotting me. Uninstalled the game client... might try again if they get things polished up a bit in the future.

weired worked well for me so far

Hi. I had been wanting to check this one out (after a few recommendations) and like you I thought it would be a good side project between SM quests. I joined under your link. My first impression is that it seems a formidable task to get my head around the basics, AND it feels a bit "too polished". For instance, when you turn over those five free starter cards there it seems too "smooth". I like how SM has the more "crisp" sound when you turn over the cards, and then the rumble and sound when you get a gold or legendary. I don't even know where to begin getting up to speed with "God Unchained", but I found some YouTube videos and will have a look at a few minutes of then in the coming days, after I finish my SM daily quests. Also, I am trying to find out if it's possible to link your Coinbase account to Gods Unchained. That would be idea. The Metamask thing is confusing. That's what I like about SM - the integration with Steem, and overall user-friendliness. The bottom line is that people won't use something unless it is easy to onboard...

sry for the late reply.

I think the only thing SM and GU have in common is that they are card games on a blockchain otherwise the play and feel very different.

I like the depth GU is providing being a turn based game where you are more in control.

I dont have a coinbase account so I never looked into that. I use Metamask playing the game which pretty much does everything and I feel with that it has the same user-friedliness as SM.

I am also still learning the different skills of the monsters and often see cards I have to read up what they do but for me that is kind of fun.

So far I mostly play green and it worked oskish for me despite some other leaders seem very strong and I maybe I should change it up a bit.
