It's a good little time sink. Sending people out to the wilderness and checking up on their progress is good fun. Try to avoid building rooms too quick, or adding people too quick. If you don't have the electricity to keep the rooms powered or the water and food for the people you're going to struggle.
Better to put more people into each room, and upgrade them.
Don't waste people guarding the entrance; just arm and armour the people in the first productive room.
