Yo, tbh the game doesn't actually bad... For being a Battle royale... on mobile... But hey, it looks decent and by the reviews you added, maybe it's not so bad and should be given more of a chance.
In terms of why Battle royales are getting more and more common it's because they're not that complicated... and since fortnite came by and stormed EVERYWHERE, there's meant to be some people who want to capitalize on this craze that's going on right now.
