Does it take so long to grow asparagus? I didn't know that you can't harvest them the first years of planting. That's a bummer :)

Well, your technically cutting off the whole plant over and over, so it's a good idea to give it some time to gain strength. It's perfectly fine to snack a few spears from a younger plant tho.
