Gary Vaynerchuck Caused a Radical Shift in my Perspective

Gary Vaynerchuck (aka Gary Vee) has been an influential figure in my life as of recently. He is a social media guru and serial investor who invests in early-stage start ups such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Uber to name a few.
For those of you who have viewed his content, you understand when I say that I do not watch him in front of my kids. Gary is very direct and in your face with his messages while using choice language to get his point across.
With that being said... having a prominent and influential figure look you in the eye and tell you things that you need to change in your life are crucial to reaching new levels in your chosen career. It's a good thing.
Will it stir up some emotions? Yes. Will it make you question your decision making to start making better choices moving forward? Yes again. That's what a good coach does. They help shift your perspective in a new direction that you may not have known existed.
I was watching a video of his the other day on his YouTube channel where he was having a discussion with a 22-year old female college grad with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. To go directly to the video, go here.
The entire premise of the video was that she felt discouraged due to the fact that she wasn't as far ahead financially as she would like to be. Her reality did not match up with the level of expectation she had for herself and for her business.
So basically, Gary tells her 4 main points to help her get out of the rut she's in...
1 - Stop being concerned about what other people have
See, this young girl was focused on what other "Instagram Stars" have and was stuck wondering why she didn't have it. The Kardashians was one example that she gave. Gary said to STOP COMPARING yourself to others and instead focus on your own goals and milestones.
2 - Look at the macro instead of the micro
Taylor was only seeing what was right in front of her instead of looking at the bigger picture. Gary said to look at the BIG picture instead of the short term gain. He tells her that time is on her side and to enjoy the process. Be the type of person who attracts that type of wealth into your life.
3 - Be self aware and play to your strengths
Gary is a huge believer in self-awareness. He tells Taylor that she needs to realize who she really is and what she is capable of. She wasn't giving herself enough credit for who she was born to be and the potential that she possesses. Self-awareness is huge in the realm of success. Do what you are good at and don't look back.
4 - Put in the Work
He continues on to tell her that she's stuck because she's not putting her head down and going to work. This is crucial because without work, nothing gets done. You have to consistently put forth the necessary amount of mental and physical energy that it takes to run a successful business. He said not to take much time off and to focus on her own goals and aspirations.
This talk by Gary Vee was so powerful that it radically changed my perspective on business and on life in general. I highly recommend that you check out the video that he posted.

I drop comments at least once a week on his Facebook posts about Steemit. Forget flipping dollar store junk on Ebay, a good Steemit blog is much less work I think lol

I was like that girl when I was a young singer. I had a goal to be a successful famous recording artist and I got down on myself because I thought the goal was to get there by the age 25 so I gave up at 21 because I passed up my best opportunity. Years later I realized how wrong I was but it taught me something about wisdom. Wise is the young person who knows what they don't know.

Your message today was very pleasant @kenmelendez and it sounds like you are in good spirits. If anything, it sounds like you've attained a momentary sense of bliss and peace of mind during the current Steem upgrades.
That will go a long way in your own life but it will also uplift other people. @travelwithus doesn't write the same way you do but he is an excellent photographer.
I kind of think of his best work when I read your posts - both of you are artists... @travelwithus uses a lens... and you use a pen (or keyboard, touchpad, etc.).

Its a great idea to surround yourself with influential people when your striving to reach goals in life and really pay attention to what they have to say and the message they are sending! some motivational speakers are of course better then others all depending on whats best for you as you reach different goals in life. I love Garry Vee I don't always listen to his stuff because its mostly a reiteration of what his always saying but thats just him being consistant in his message. I recently read his book Crusing it and did a review on it here. He really gives you practical advice and his pragmatic, there is no silverbullet that will make you reach your goals its just hard work, trial and error and taking a leap of faith.

Thanks man! I actually saw like one of those short viral videos of him talking about how he grew his dads wine business with adwords and then i started hitting up Youtube to find out more and I found a podcast he did with Joe Rogan andnwas like this is a cool guy, let me get his book. I started my career in advertisign and then also started my own business so his content really resonates with me especially when you're having the slender months and things arent going your way
