RE: On the very low risk of dying from running a marathon

in #health6 years ago

I am really sorry for these guys...

First of all, Any regular runner or athlete must pass a yearly cardiac check and complete analysis . No matter how hard/fast you will run. Sometimes a hidden anomaly in your heart or body can just appear while doing some efforts.
Prevention is the only weapon.

The problem as well is the lack of serious and consistent preparation of the runner...
People think are able to run a half Marathon without training 3 times a week and then the consequences of the over effort during the race can be really serious.

Whatever you do, running , cycling, walking, hiking... is better to be informed and take the correspondent precautions...

Sort:

It does seem sensible to get yerself checked out.

The research I looked at didn't isolate for previous running history/ health.

Possibly the numbers overall are so low that you wouldn't get significant data by doing so.

Sensible advice none the less!
