Thank you for the warm welcome! Creality Ender 3's can be purchased for under $200USD when on sale. And well worth twice that price for the quality you can produce on this budget machine. It is a very popular model of printer too, so there is plenty of parts and support available all around the internet. I highly recommend the Ender 3 as a first printer. It's my first and I have been running it 24/7 for 5 weeks now and it hasn't given me any grief. Very solid unit for a very fun hobby.

If you're worried that you won't have any ideas on what to print there is thingiverse and youmagine to find well over 100,000 different things to print. From busts of your favorite action hero's to practical things like phone stands you print for $0.13 instead of buy at the store for $13.00. And once you have one you find it almost makes work for itself. Something breaks and you go online, find the replacement part or model it yourself, wait a few minutes for it to print and you just saved $150 fixing that plastic clip on your dryer that broke.

Oh, and I didn't even factor in the good feelings you get from showing off your prints to friends and family and blowing their minds. That's worth the $200 alone, my friend. I look forward to seeing you in the hobby one day. If you do get a 3d printer and remember me please find a way to tag me in your post or use my twitter link in another comment in this thread to show me what you print!

Have you published posts about this yet?

No, I have not. But that is a really good idea. I regret not documenting the building of the printer. But there are many videos on that. Maybe I should release a post about how to level the print bed.
