It's a Taste Sensation ๐Ÿ˜‹ Wild Corn Dogs ๐Ÿ˜‹ Wizstead Post #15

in #humor โ€ข 6 years ago

I'm needing some help with my wild corn dogs.

  • I was pretty excited to run across these wild corn dogs today.
    • They even come on their own stick
which I ASSumed that meant they should be roasted over a lil fire.
      • Man oh Man! What a taste sensation that was!!!

But that taste sensation wasn't good.

  • In fact, it was pretty bad!
Worse corn dog I've ever eaten...
Absolutely, hands down, terrible taste sensation.
    • It didn't even matter how much mustard I put on them.
      • I even tried some with ketchup. Yuk!
      • I even tried some with horseradish sauce. Yuk!
      • I even tried some with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. Yuk!

I'm open for suggestions!

As you can see, there's quite a few of these.
So, I would really like to figure out how to eat them...

  • Did I pick them too green?
    • Or are they past their prime?
  • Did I cook them too long?
    • Should I have boiled them?
  • I'm on my tenth toothpick and still have some of that hairy stuff stuck in my teeth.
    • Was I supposed to pick that off before I cooked?
  • Maybe this was just a bad year for them?

Does anyone have any good recipes for Wild Corn Dogs?

  • I thought they might be good dehydrated, but oops that made a mess!
  • Has anyone hybridized these things so they taste better?

Guess I should've done some research first.

DuckDuckGo Search Engine tells me these things might be something called cat tails.

  • I guess that's why we have so many bobcats around here. ???

Conclusion

I do not recommend eating Wild Corn Dogs.

That is all...

Makes best ever catfish food. They love them. When they are fuzzy like that mix with chicken liver puree and some old cheese to make doughbait

Will have to try that sometime!

Well you got me again. Thought you were going to provide those eating instructions.
I keep hearing how those are great survival food, packed with nutrients, that have a nice corn taste.
I have been too lazy to learn the details and experiment. From the looks of things you are harvesting out of season. Perhaps a nice fall harvest lightly boiled?
Maybe just experiment on the grand kids next time. They would be cute blowing fuzz out the nose and sneezing out fluffy puffs.

Sneezing out puffs :D

+1 Sneezing out puffs :D

  • Made me LOL Whew glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee!!!

They actually might be good for survival. I remember coon hunting with my uncle and cousins. He poured kerosene on these and voila! we had torches!

  • Good plan. Use grandkids to experiment with wild foods.
    Uh Oh!
Did I just put that on the blockchain?
    Uh Oh!
    • I will try harvested next fall...

You have a point never joke about something some crazy person may decide to actually do. I never was very good at humor.
They really are a food source. I was pretty sure wizard was not going to risk a munchkin.
You think we better both do an edit before we go down in blockchain history as evil child haters?

haha I think we'll be OK haha

I have such a taste for a corn dog now.

I recently discovered I do not have to wait for grandkids to come for a visit to get a box of corn dogs.

  • I recently got a box and kept watching for the corn dog police ๐Ÿ˜ˆ, but they never showed up๐Ÿ˜‡!

True for push up ice creams as well, just sayin'

OMG! Really?!?!?!?

  • I love the orange flavored ones and now that I know... I can enjoy any time I want.
    • Life is good! Woohoo!!!

Ah, cattails. Used to see them all over the place here while I was growing up. Can't say I have for a while now.

My suggestion would be to make cattail tea. Don't pick them when they're green. They need to brown and on the drying side. But not to the furball point. Then, instead of drinking it hot, drink it ice cold. Put in a lot of sugar, or sweetener of your choice, and then put the pitcher of cat tail tea in the coldest part of your refrigerator. Wait about 24 hours.

You could add cinnamon to taste. Add eat some watermelon with it.

DISCLAIMER: I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to cattail tea. Listen to me at your own risk. Any bodily functions which cease to function or reduce in function or function in ways they weren't meant to function due to following my rather silly suggestion is solely your fault. It would be better if you just forgot what you read above this disclaimer. Don't forget the disclaimer, though. That you need to remember.

You could follow this link, though, if you want a little herbal history of cattails and their potential uses.

Antiseptic, good for nosebleeds and other types of bleeding, poultice, shrinking cancerous tumors, poison absorption, particularly arsenic. Don't ingest if pregnant.

I wonder if it's any good for sunburns?

  • Just thinking you might need to find some before you wear your new speedo outside... :P

That's pretty cool about the arsenic...
