Dicks sporting goods is being sued for age descrimination for refusal to follow the Law.
The store Dicks Sporting Goods decided that they would pre empt the law and refuse to sell long guns to anyone under 21. The Law says 18 is the legal age for long gun purchases.
This Man went into Dicks to buy a long gun, knowing that he, being 19 would be refused. He had it filmed, and was refused, as expected. This is a clear case of Dicks refusing service based on age. This is against state Law. I don't see that Dicks has any safe legal standing.
This is a written Right, and is fairly straight forward. The plaintiff should win this easily, Dicks will try to settle this out of court. I expect that they will refuse and force this into court, for the precedent. BUT, what ever they do, they will beat Dicks, easily.
This was a decision that Dicks made, based on ignorance, that violates the Law. It should be expensive.

They cannot make a law that requires you to sale something to someone. You and I have the right to do business or not with anyone one we choose to or not as the case may be. The fact that the law is not being followed is the system itself. I do not feel obligated to follow the directions of an organization that refuses to be responsible.

They are approaching it in a different way. Their state has a law in place against discrimination. They have filed this suit as a discrimination lawsuit based on the metric of age. Age is one of the listed discrimination metrics that is not legal to use!
Filing this way, give them a strong case. The legality of buying a rifle is also not put at any risk by filing in this fashion.
I also wish it was a slam dunk!
The only way they could stop selling to younger people, would be if they stopped selling guns entirely THIS is within their pervue, but selectively selling, based on a protected status (age) is not a winning case.
I actually agree with the right of businesses to refuse service; but they stomped several bakeries for the exact same thing.
:)I don't know if you have noticed, but the mafia is in charge. The whole thing smells like a set up. For one it would have been easy to not sell the long gun, because they didn't want to. So the age specific thing smells to me like they want this power to decide your business transaction for you. This is just the psy-op to get the ball rolling.
Like forcing a baker to make a gay wedding cake or be fined?
No decent freedom any more for sure.
What is legal is not 'just' anymore; only legal.
What is lawful and therefore legal has not changed. What has changed is the people don't know what is lawful and therefor legal. Ignorance is the real enemy of us all.
One person believing he has some special right to force another to do something that person does not want to do, is the source of our problems, and will cause violence from the aggrieved individual. That spark of violence, will begin a forest fire of blood and death, that will end civilization as we now know it!

They used to get my business, but no longer! I have added them to my "not in this lifetime" list!

Anywhere except Dicks. The day after they did that, the store here had an empty parking lot. They started parking the employees cars out front, their version of a car decoy, I guess!
There was a pawn shop next to one of the Dicks sporting goods store. They had a sign out saying "We sell AR15s, because we are not a Dick."
I wish I could find that pawn shop, they are MY kind of people!
:)LOL! That's a smart Pawn Shop owner. This is an example of capitalism working. Both stores are in my opinion. Well, a combination of capitalism and peer pressure. Dicks is learning a lesson.
If they survive the process, maybe the lesson will stick with Dicks. Tha pawn shop is my kind of people for sure, ROFLOL!
