Don't expect a lot !
Expectation is when you think you will get something almost for sure. It can be very disappointing because you wait for more but get less or nothing. Some people even get angry or depressed if that happens. Positivity doesn't always help, sometimes we have to be real. Because we usually expect more that we deserve in reality. Life is like trading, the chart sometimes go up and sometimes down.
Even in steemit you shouldn't expect more than you deserve. Some people just joined steemit for a month and want to get big upvotes right away. Steemit is not working like that, you have to deserve the upvote, you have to provide value to our community. ''Be special. Be original.'' It's my best advice.
In psychological terms we also lose a lot of energy when we expect something and we don't get it. So just do what you have to do and reward from life and the universe will come to you anyway. Just do it ! Think about that like about karma, you do the good and you get the good. We always have to care about the state of our mind and soul.
Also sometimes when you expect more than you deserve you do much more for that and you don't even sleep well or eat well. In this terms we have to care about our health, our body is given to us just once. It's up to us whether to build it and take care of it or destroy it with our overworking. We have to do everything to be and stay healthy.
I am writing this not only to you, but to myself as well, because it is really important and I often tend to forget such simple but powerful thing. When I write in steemit, it's like talking to myself and reminding me not to expect more than I deserve and to care about my soul, mind and health. If I can heal myself, I can heal others too. But remember that everyone is his own psychologist, so I think talking to ourselves is ok to be in a good mood and remain positive no matter what. ☺
That's right! I always double check my motivation why i'm doing something and if i find a little voice somewhere in my brain that says "maybe you get something for it" - either i don't do it or i look at other motivations to do it without my ego involved. I think that keeps me healthy and i feel the real joy IF i get something in return. And for example helping other people without expecting something in return your reward is your peace in your soul and knowing to do the right thing.
Yeah helping others is also good but the help also have to be deserved I think.
You are right not to get too obsessed if you have not reached what you have expected.

We can debate about that. I had really strange experience with some projects in the past. For example when i first got into prototypes. One of the most bizarre and strange concepts worked, i talk about concepts that had 98% chance of failure. And the ones that had every calculation positive failed in the test field. Even in science there are some strange events that no one can predict. And that's why everything should be tested. The good thing is that in this field we don't involve passion or hopes...most of the time. And that's actually good, i would like to see more people using the scientific method. Not just relying on luck or fortune or whatever. :)

Thank you for your post, it is very interesting. I found your video, how to become popular at steemit. I would like to say thanks for your time to do it for others who are new on the platform. Additionally, I would like to say that you are definitely right, according to this quote " Even in steemit you shouldn't expect more than you deserve" I think if people are here only to make money they will never be a master on this platform. I think, as much you put energy to write good articles and to be happy and proud to share them with others them all the good things, nice comments, and even money come back to you. In terms of expectation to be honest ,if you do something for other people you should not expect anything back apart from the words "thank you" if you will not hear them, then it will be disappointing. If people do not appreciate your help, time and energy which you spend for them, then they will be judged by someone else, not you. I agree accept for I do not expect people like Jerry Banfeilds helpers to not let Jerry know when he has money that does not belong to him. Not right. And I will keep letting people know what is really going on.
