Hello from Melbourne!

Hello Steemians!

I'm Linny Plant based in Melbourne, Australia. I'm married with twins, and professionally, I'm a Software Consultant. This is an intro specifically for the Team Australia, but more generally, to make up for my dismal attempt when I was really new and lost. :)

Technically, I came to steemit because this platform had a unique application of the block-chain technology. I wanted to learn more about it. What I'm finding is that every time I look into something new, there are dozens more questions! So this will be a long road to travel.

Socially, I'm interested in meeting other writers, readers, runners, cyclists and women who seek balance with competing priorities. The writing community is lively, and I spend time hanging out in the @isleofwrite. As for women on steemit, I've found a welcoming group in @teamgirlpowa. I highly recommend both communities. Since running my first marathon, I've been awfully slack. So if anyone knows of any great running or cycling groups on steemit, then I'd love to know.

Creatively, I'm on this platform to seek inspiration. My current writing project is a fantasy-based adventure love story. I'm at the mid-way point and as you can see I've even done the cover - which I expect I’ll change again. But it’s been going on close to two years now, I just need to finish it. Work, children, life...the usual excuses.

And finally, I'm a disorganized, 'introverted' chatter-box who is mesmerized by colorful lights, loves chocolate, old junky/tacky/kitsch/retro/mid-century stuff, reading romance novels and is addicted to diet-coke. More importantly, my husband keeps me centred and my daughters remind me to be grateful, I’d be truly lost without them. I also really love my bike too…

If you got to the end of this post, thank you for reading!

I recently won the Women’s Future Fiction contest run by @teamgirlpowa.

you're welcome:)

Welcome Linny, its great to have you here. Melbourne is really good for Steemit based meet ups, second only to Radelaide.

Thank you for visiting, gohba! I’m glad to be part of Team Australia.

Radelaide?!

Never heard of the place. ;)

Wow you gave birth to twin? Nice 👏👏👏 I am twin too and we are males. Are yours boys or girls or mix?
Welcome to steemit

Interesting to hear you’re a twin! I hope you blog on it. Mine are both girls. A real joy for me too. I realised I could just do all the stuff I loved as a little girl. Lol

😂, my twin joined Steemit yesterday, I will allow him blog about it so I can Upvote and comment on it 😂.
Thanks

hello linnyplant,, welcome to TA..

Hello foovler! I’m glad to be part of TA!

Pleased to e-meet you, fellow writer, and hope you find the inspiration you seek on this platform :)
(Also, as an Egyptian, happy to see the pyramids in your collage, and curious what they mean to you?)

Hi Yahia, thank you for showing an interest. My pyramids represent portals to a realm that is inspired by Ancient Egypt. It’s a world where technology and mysticism has a role. My modern day hero was transported into this realm and has been given a possible pathway to immortality. It’s all the usual themes of reincarnation, love, second chances, references to Egyptian mythology, and too much monster fighting. :)

It’s a lighthearted story, but I want both modern military and Ancient Egyptian themes to work well together.

I appreciate that enigmatic answer - mysticism, we certainly have a lot of (even in modern day Egypt), technology less so... As a pacifist, I admit, I don't care much for militaries (if you're referring to our current dictator, Sisi) but love everything else you say, from second chances to immortality :)

Cheers, Yahia

I was supposed to answer this too -almost forgot because I was focused on getting back to your poem. It’s not about Egyptian Military, unless it’s about Ancient Egyptian Military and weaponry. My character was originally a Marine, but I’m thinking he may end up an Aussie as a nod to my own Countrymen. But he assumes the body of an Egyptian Warrior. :)

By modern military themes, it’s more that he has combat stress and also he has to have military training. I started with a lovable geek, but decided I needed to harden him up to defeat all the giant insects and beasts. :) Everything goes back to ancient Egypt as far as influence. I have so much fun with it, but you could get lost in the research! If you have any pointers on reading about Myticism in relation to Egypt, please let me know! I’ll be grateful. But don’t think you need to provide a thing. I’ve already got a lot from your words. :)

Thanks, for walking me through that, I didn't realize you were referring to a literary work you were creating-- best of luck with your adventures, researching :) Mysticism in relation to Egypt, first thing that comes to mind is: Ibn Ata Illah, an important Sufi saint and sage of the 13th century, who bequeathed us his treasured Kitab al Hikam (Book of Wisdom) composed of aphoristic writing. (If you're interested, here's an interview I gave where I discuss mysticism at greater length and its influence on my work/life: https://idriesshahfoundation.org/interview-with-yahia-lababidi/)

Hi Linnyplant :)
@ursa loves books; and @annabanananz is a cyclist, but they're both here in Adelaide ;P

Hah! The Adelaide vs Melbourne battle has spilled onto here?! This is my blog, so I win by default! :P

I’ll go checkout ursa and annabanananz soon! But yeah, I could do with some Melbournian backup!

-looking around-

Edited: Thank you for visiting, how could I forget my manners getting all worked up about being out-numbered. ;)

I wish it WAS a battle.
Not much of a fight when only one side rocks up :)

Interesting introduction post! Keep sharing and have fun Steeming.

Thank you! :)
