Hello Steemit, from South Australia growing mushrooms.

in #introduceyourself6 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone in the #steemit community and #teamaustralia. I have been educating myself recently about #blockchain #cryptocurrencies. I am so excited about #steem and I am very optimistic for its future.

My name is Wayne Slape and I am 37 years old. My family and I live near Brighton Beach, #Adelaide, South #Australia. We are quite fortunate to live in such a beautiful place, so close to vast sandy beaches.

I left my job at the start of 2017 in Landscape Construction and Environmental Services to renovate my previous house for sale, become a stay at home dad for my daughter who is 3 and try and start a #mushroom kit and education business.

With the help of my family we finished our house, sold it and moved to where we are now.
I found it difficult to start my mushroom business properly with all the things on my plate. My daughter goes to kindy soon so I will have more free time to focus and give it a good shot.

I think mushrooms are amazing and I will be posting blogs here and videos on #dtube about how I grow mushrooms and what I forage for in #nature

I will also be posting about how my business is progressing with products, workshops and events.

I have started to get involved in #art. I draw visionary art that is inspired by things I find in #nature and visions I get when i go into long meditations.

I will start to #travel around South Australia and share my journeys. Then I will #travel to other parts of #Australia and then hopefully the world!

#life is another topic I might post about. I am going through a health kick right now and have recently taken up Kundalini Yoga. I would like to keep you all updated with how well I am going and share how what changes I made to my life style.

I also love #food and #homesteading. So on occasion I will share some of my recipes, pickling and brewing projects.

I hope you all enjoy my posts and I would like to thank @jarradlevi for introducing me to the #steemit community

Hi Wayne. Great to have you onboard, mate.
I got the Adelaide crew together 3 months ago and we've grown heaps since then, so we've decided to get together monthly.
Every last Thursday of the month, the Mallsballers are meeting up in the beer garden at the Jade Monkey in the city, from 6pm.
First/next one is only a couple of days away; and turnout's looking fantastic. Be great to see you there.

Its great to know that there is a steemit community in Adelaide that actively gets together.
I clicked your link and read the post. Looks like your community has fun at parks.
It would be great to talk to someone face to face about steemit. I am still learning it but it looks like re-learning HTML would be helpful to make the posts look good (Old skool).

Please checkout my brother in law @jarradlevi. He is a really cool guy that makes realistic silicon masks and has an Adelaide band called iHeart.

I am still trying to get my head around this platform. I have never hash tagged before so I don't really know what I am doing.

I also don't fully understand how the voting system work. Who should I upvote and why is this about percentage vote why not 100% vote?

I was part of the team that did the landscaping at Oaklands park. I did the planting of the wetlands there. It is close to my house so maybe a meetup there would be nice.
Thanks @mattclarke

That's some fantastic landscaping. Well done.
We have a couple of Adelaide homesteaders around. @minismallholding is very active, as is @ligayagardener.
Don't worry too much about voting percentage. Until you have 500SP, all of your votes will be at 100%.
Over 500SP, your vote is worth a bit more, so the system gives you a slider bar to decrease down from 100% if you want to vote for more posts/comments.
I'll reach out to Jared now.
Thanks for the tip :)

Your voting strength is limited because there's only so much daily mined crypto to give out each day. The more Steem Power a person has in their account, the more of the daily amount they can give out. Your voting strength recovers about 20% a day, so most people suggest you keep your voting power above 80% day to day. People should try to vote only on things they want to support since their voting power is limited. There's more about this in the information I'll share in my main reply...

Nice work Wayne, I may have to redo mine and put more time and hashtags etc. It seems the way you presented it got a great response.

Thanks @jarradlevi for making me aware of #steemit. I don't really know what I am doing with hash tags but it seems a good thing to do here.

Welcome to steemit @mushroomuser! I see you're from one of the good cities (i.e., not Melbourne 😁 ). We have a pretty strong Team Australia community going here on steemit to support each other. If you'd like to be part of it, then please check out this link for the instructions on how to join https://steemit.com/teamaustralia/@choogirl/team-australia-new-recruits-update-17-01-18-and-our-first-team-australia-celebrity

Thank you for welcoming me @choogirl. I will check it out.

Welcome to steemit! If you are ever looking for a group, actually a community, of homesteaders/gardeners/self-sufficient like-minded people, I am the moderator of a group here... also the "un"official ambassador to the group.

let me know and I can post an invite link here for you!

That would be great thank you!!

Hey there @mushroomuser glad to have you with us. Since you're from Adelaide you should become part of TeamAustralia. Mushrooms changed my life hey. I have much respect for plant based medicines and it's led me on a journey of self discovery like I would never have imagined. I now regularly meditate and live a mindful life.

As an artist, you should become a part of our new Steem Artists group! :) I'd personally love to have you part of it. I do my own visionary art on my other account @spaceginger. Art is a big part of Steemit so it'd be great to have another Aussie. We currently have around 70 people in the group but as I just started the Steem Artists account tonight people are yet to move over.

Thank you @steemartist. I am glad you have found the power of mushrooms. They are quite eye opening.
I found a mushroom in the forest near where I live that you can draw on. It is called Artist Conk.

I have done tissue cultures of it and am trying to grow it so people can grow their own art.
I will be sure to check you out but don't understand how the group side of things work yet.

Thanks for your reply @mushroomuser. Sounds very interesting, both in an artistic way and as a medicinal tea. I looked it up and looks pretty amazing.

I'd suggest if you follow @steemartists, once you start putting artwork on your blog, just let me know and I will start promoting your artwork in our blogs. Your brother-in-law mentioned you on the TeamAustralia Discord today too. I was like, "Ahh yes, I commented on his post last night 😊"

Can't wait to see more mushroom posts- they really are incredible plants- looking forward to learning more about them and your business - welcome to steemit @mushroomuser!

Thank you. I hope that my post will be entertaining for you. Look forward to seeing what you think in future posts.

welcome~~ mushroom user..

Thank you @mona-eats. I hope I inspire you to explore mushrooms in your recipes.

Hey mate, welcome to Steemit! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, the community is great. I look forward to seeing your content. Those mushrooms look funky haha, I don't like mushrooms myself, but I bought my dad one of those grow your own wild mushroom kits for Christmas a while back.

If you are interested in cryptocurrency, my blog is going to do an overview series of the top 100 coins and it'd be great if you could give me a follow... I've just released my second post on Ethereum but I've got many more to come!

Hope you have a nice day :)

@nathan290595

Thanks @nathan290595. It was a bit scarry investing in cryptocurrency around christmas time here in Australia. There were reports of banks closing peoples accounts and not transferring the money to companies like coinbase blocking people from buying crypto.
I don't know what the situation is like now but I am sure someone would have posted about this?

I think cryptocurrency future and beleive that it will play an important role in Automation and AI.
I think as the worlds jobs change due to automation and AI humans will have to become more creative and that will be how we get paid. That is one of the reasons why steemit is attractive to me.

I will check your blog out.
