Life can be a cruel teacher, but her lessons are worth learning.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

They say that the best way to master a skill is to teach it. Recently I wrote a post on the importance of improving one's emotional control, also known as EQ (Emotional Quotient). I'm a little hesitant to write those types of post, because it comes with a tinge of hypocrisy. The farther into the post I went, the more I realized my own lack of mastery on the subject.
It felt like, the moment I began to think on the subject of EQ, my thoughts were triggering a reaction in the world around me. It's like the universe heard what I was typing and decided to test my authenticity. Immediately the people, gagets, and situations responded to the beckoning of my thoughts and the testing began. It seemed that everything and everyone around me was more then willing, to help the universe test my EQ. My coworkers were suddenly in an extra special moods. My customers were extra forgetful on important details, and my cell phone had never come closer to being flung across the room. So I write this post as a warning. Remember that life is more then willing to provide you with ample opportunities to test your skills on the subject, you're hoping to improve on.
I'm not writing this to deter from pursuing mastery, but to make you aware that testing will come. Whenever we decided to improve ourselves or head on a new path, life makes it a point to test our commitment. Yet these test aren't too be seen as a punishments, but as life's way of providing us with the situations needed to grow, in the areas we seek mastery. They may also come to remind us of our need for mastery. Whenever we find ourselves believing we've already mastered a subject or skill, there's a very good chance that a test has been scheduled.
Life can sometimes be a cruel teacher, but her lessons worth learning. No need to worry if you failed the test, just learn the lesson. For if you don't, life will gladly readminister the test until the lesson is learned.
I wish you much success in your endeavors. Remember that the only difference between a winner and a loser is that the winner tried one more time. May God bless you with the resilience to keep pushing forward. :)

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are talking here, in fact, about emotional intelligence, right? This what you are calling here Emotional Quotient?

If that's so, this is one of those things that are not that easy to learn especially if someone neglects it. I agree and like very much that saying:

Life can be a cruel teacher, but its lessons are worth learning.

The only thing I hate about it, as it seems to me, its ability that the exam on which we failed last time, every next time would be bigger and harder to solve.

Therefore, I was always telling my kids whenever they would like to skip, push aside or run away from something to "better walkthrough that fire now when its flame is relatively small, as otherwise, that same thing is waiting for them around the corner somewhere in their future, but it would be harder to detect and solve it, and the flame of the fire they would still have to go through would be bigger and more burning."

In other words and no matter if we are aware or not, consciously willing or not, our life is tiled with all sorts of tasks, and I hate when it happens that the one I managed to avoid and overjump hits me right in the face when I expected it the least. And it seems life has that almost unmistakable habit as well as even some sort of 'perpetuum mobile' determined ability to teach us something new or to polish already learned.

Yeah unfortunately these challenges come as giants yet they only get bigger if we ignore them. There's irony in my writing a post on EQ because the last month has been nothing but testing in my ability to respond and not react. Lol Those are good lessons to teach our children because the world will try to convince them that the opposite is true. Thanks for your input, much appreciated. :)

True..
Cruel and nasty without mercy..
But...what doesnt kill you make you stronger...

And smarter lol. Thanks thanks for your comment. :)

Thank you . I appreciate the kind words :)

May God bless you too for sharing bringing to Light this, many do not know lessons ain't meant to leave wrong memories but to impact knowledge

I bless you use this a re inforce relaxing

We not taught this lesson anymore. Our schools teach us that it's wrong to fail. Yet that's how we learn we have to fail. Of course there is wisdom available to help us avoid some failures, yet no amount of prep will allow us to by pass this step. Even as I right this in convicted of my own need to learn this. Lol

Yeah its how we as humans learn. :)

Thanks for this post! It actually has come at a really perfect time in my life, and I needed this to remind me to be prepared for the tests that are to come. My boyfriend and I have been talking a lot about winners and losers, and up until recently I've been reluctant to admit that I'm even in the game...but my perceptions are changing! and with this change; life is throwing me a bit of shade right now, but I know that I can get on top of it. Thanks for the words of encouragement to your fellow steemit community!

It's funny how we stumble across certain things right when we need them. I'm glad this post provided value to you. I know the feeling of not feeling like you're even included in the game of life. Usually it's when we least feel like it that we need to read or listen to uplifting works. Sometimes the test of life diminishes our flame and we have to find people who are on fire for life and do our best to get around them. Whether through one in one interaction, books, audios, or even movies. It's important that we learn how to motivate ourselves. There's a scripture in the bible that says, "and David encouraged himself. " David was a very powerful man in the bible and even he had to encourage himself. So imagine how bad we need to master the skill. :) Don't give up .

Life itself is not cruel, it's the insecure space ugly evil creatures that's controlling everything make it seem that way. Never let these bunch of pariahs win. :)

There are definitely forces out there ready to test your commitment. They know that if you commit they lose, so their goal is to convince you its not worth it. Thanks for the comment :)

A cat’s brain is biologically more similar to a human brain than it is to a dog’s. Both humans and cats have identical regions in their brains that are responsible for emotions.

I've heard that EQ is more important than IQ. Every human is intelligent enough to function within society, but not everyone has enough self-control (read 'emotion'). If we are driven by our emotions, we will not be able to make any rational decisions. Being 'triggered' is a sign of an extremely low "EQ". @ironshield

That's very true. Your post reminds me that I displayed low EQ by not writing this post immediately after I wrote my post on EQ which was when the inspiration for this post first place. I could've tied them together. Instead I got carried away by life's events and did not post it till now lol
