The airbnb I stayed at when first arriving to Playa del Carmen, was situated right next to a little airfield. I didn't know that prior to the arrival but it was a pleasant surprise to me. It's funny that I first thought it was just a road, and only realised it's an airfield as the first plane landed on it, really close to where I was sunbathing in the morning. I was delighted!

There is something about planes that I like, even though I kind of hate flying. Sometimes I get really anxious and can't relax at all during the flight, and sometimes I'm all good, even enjoying myself. But just looking at planes taking flight, circulating in the air above you and landing, that is always fun.

This little airport was actually quite a busy one, all during the daytime, you could see planes going in and out very frequently. While I'm quite noise sensitive, plane noises don't bother me at all, even when I could hear them inside to the inside of the apartment that was on the bottom floor. It was actually fun waking up in the morning to the first planes taking off.

I've never been on a two seater, and I don't know why but it terrifies me a lot more than a jumbo jet. Maybe I'll try it one day. Until then, I'll just enjoy the show.

I saw this and thought of you. Get paid $100 K to travel the world as a photographer for a year.

Sounds like a dream job for someone but I'm not qualified for it, nor am I that flexible. Besides, I want to be the one in front of the camera, not just behind it ;)

Seems to me, your talents behind the camera match your talents in front.

I once had a boyfriend who was a pilot well getting his license and hours by flying small planes from the area we stayed in the Summers to a little island that was also a popular destination and I had family that had houses on that island, so I'd fly with him back and forth in small planes. It is interesting and for me, afraid of heights, it was only scary about 20 feet above the ground , so landing and taking off, the up in the air bit was high enough that it for some reason didn't trigger my fear height.

I even once considered taking flying lessons myself, but never did follow through.

That sounds awesome if you have someone who you can go fly with regularly, and who you trust :P Interesting how the fear of heights diminishes when getting higher :D I actually like getting high (eh eh) and I always wanna climb buildings and trees, but I'm always a little afraid in trusting my life into a hands of people I don't know and who magically make a tin can fly.

I don't like noise and don't like to see the plane that much.Still,It is a pleasant scenario that you get from your apartment. So many trees surrounding that airfield.Other, than plan landing and getting off,it stays quiet mostly I suppose.

Do you travel too frequently and where are you planning to spend this Christmas?

Yeah it was on a pretty quiet area in general, no party noises or anything like that. And because they are small planes, the sound it not bad.

I travel fairly often, but not enough in my opinion. I'm spending the Christmas with my family in the countryside of Finland, can't miss that! :)

Next time fly private 🤣
