Do I have trust issues? Part 2

Just a recap, a gentleman man requesting money roadside, stranded with out fuel, took £40 off me and gave me a ring and said he would call today.
Well I didn’t receive any call today. I was speaking to one of our receptionist about this and this exact incident happened to her and she lost £20. Lucky she only had that much amount of money. This also happened twice to other receptionist’ husband, bless him, he must be kind hearted. There was a couple with the female apparently heavily pregnant pretending to be stranded on the road without money for the fuel. They got money in exchange for a ring and the receptionist took the ring to the jewellers as she didn’t hear from them and the ring was completely worthless.
Clearly I have been conned and learnt my lesson. I am slightly worried that I lost money but more so worried who to trust. It is ridiculous and disgusting how people are making money on human emotions and trust. Next time I would probably won’t be inclined to help anyone even if it is genuine which concerns me the most.
Please spread to your friends and family about this scam.
@acesontop - Adrian you were spot on about this scam. Wish we had this discussion before. Nevertheless it is a lesson I learnt and will be more careful and inquisitive in future.

I will probably dedicate a post for such tricks that the Romanian gypsies use to make money out of good willing people because I know some of them. I am feeling sad though because they tricked you and because they have the same nationality as I do and if they will get caught we are all going to suffer AGAIN from a bad image that is getting worse all over the world. Looking at your situation from another perspective you can call it karma and you probably are aware as well that nothing happens with no reason. Be careful in the future and think about the fact that nobody who needs desperately help will give anything in exchange, you simply don't think like that when in need. If I would be in your place I would throw away that ring also. Keep your eyes open and stay away from scumbags. Don't abandon your goodwill to help though. Just be more careful and listen to your intuition because you had it to not stop to that car. Sorry for your pounds 40 loss...

But in my suggestion five fingers are not same,
If we'll think that then can't help of those people who really needs our help,
We should help of peoples just for God sake without hoping that they will also help back,

My intended message was to be weary of these scams and spread to as many people as possible.
It would definitely put myself in a dilemma if I am in similar situation in future. Just have to trust my gut instinct.

Hi @moghul It's hard to believe but true. Now people even trying to cheat emotionally but its too bad. Ofcourse its a lesson and going forward you would not believe and help even if the case is genuine.
