Soft Words are Hard Arguments

in #life6 years ago

“All creatures are pleased by loving words; and therefore we should address words that are pleasing for all for there is no lack of sweet words.” – Channakya.

Use of Offensive Language:

It indicates how one replies politely and respectfully while having firm faith about what they believe in. It means to always be prepared to protect your own beliefs. There is a difference between having the authority to speak the most dreaded things and the actually speaking them. As humans we reside in communities and populations, having contact with different people on a daily basis, if one was to start an argument, since he has the authority to do so, and uses offensive language in his arguments than the community will not build a proper relationship. The community would start to avoid the person since his manner has offended the whole community, even if he had a solid point until or unless his thoughts are conveyed in an appropriate manner the community might never respect him.

How to persuade without being offensive:

In order to hold an argumentative discussion, one must possess a speech containing solid facts, so that the argument remains persuasive. Nobody can be convinced if the arguments are not based on universal truth. The manner in which one conveys his arguments must also be kept in mind. It is easy to give a speech but in order to convey a message one must first find the appropriate method of conduction.

Soft Words Better than Harsh Ones:

Soft words if presented in hard arguments can convey the message in a more peaceful way without creating disrupt in masses. It is based on the prejudices that lay inside the argument that matters. There are many different school of thoughts, every human thinks differently. The point where the values differ is where the arguments begin. Where arguments began the relationships end.

Listen Before Speaking:

We are blessed with two ears and one tongue by God. This symbolizes that listening to the opinions of others matters more than stating your own opinions. So even though he has given the tongue the power to use words at the same time he has concealed the tongue behind layers of teeth. Since its use can either build or destroy. As they say, the weakest dog barks the loudest, the ones that are weak use offense thinking it might do them any good. But they are wrong. They can control their pride and are very simple minded. Thinking that harsh words would do them good.

Harsh Words Are Offensive:

Only the weak are unable to control their tongues.
It is said that break the bones for a human has 206 of those but don’t break the heart as he only possesses one.
Using soft speech does not make a man lower in status, rather it is the other way around. It makes a man even better, it might as well be an accomplishment if one delivers a hard argument without the use of harsh words. Nobody likes to be around a harsh person. Their tongues spit poison and they themselves are like snakes.

Choose the Tender Words Instead:

Gentleness towards others is always fruitful. Tender speech has a positive effect on one’s mind and the trust between the speaker and the listener is increased considerably. The audience tends to pay more attention to the speaker. If the speaker is confident enough in his knowledge than he would never resort to using harsh words just for the sake of mere entertainment. He would definitely find a way to grasp the hearts of the people in the audience without even having to use offensive language.

In Other Words:

In short

"Have a strong argument ready but deliver it in a kind way."

Having authority to do something and having moral sense to do something, if one could differentiate between the two then he is bound to succeed. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion. It is how you covey your opinion that matters. Instead of hurting one another with venomous words, try to use kinder and gentler words.
Thus one has to

“Be sure to taste their words before they spit them out”.

I agree. Sometimes I use questions to make some one make the choice, instead of telling what to do. Example:

Have you considered make a question?

Do you think that person will make the correct choice if is him that can make the conclusion that it is the best outcome?

The power of asking questions is very common by the psychologysts
