I love how authors are lasting symbols of social feelings during any particular time period. Often, writing is dismissed as simply fiction, but it still manages to tell people much about common sentiments at the time. Thanks for sharing!

IMHO, all fiction writers know that "fiction" is just a legal avenue (aka plausible deniability) and somewhat safe way to write about their own life experiences and personal thoughts...

That's an interesting way to look at it. I like to write fiction to play with alternate ideas and perspectives, not necessarily my own, but the plausible deniability part is sure nice to have in there!
