Best movie of all time?
My choice for best movie of all time is:
Ben-Hur, 1959
Second Place:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy, 2001-2003
Both these movie are epic adventures that follow characters through rigorous physical and emotional trials that test them to the limit. Will they break, will they quit?
Also, both these movies use film and technology, some of the best of their day, to produce a wonderful final product. The production of the sets and selection of locations are great. The attention to detail on costumes and prop items are amazing. The music is moving and high quality. The acting is memorable in major and minor characters. Much more could be said, but overall, these movies are just awesome.

I absolutely love the Lord of the Rings movie series. My mom will actually put one of the movies on as background sound while she's taking a nap, lol. As for Ben-Hur, I'll have to give that a watch this evening!

I didn't watch the old Ben Hur but I have watched the new one, which is pretty good as well.
LOTR is still my all time favourite where after I watch the first one, the Fellowship of the ring I immediately bought the whole original book and finished it before the second movie came out. haha.

Of course I've seen both of these movies since we're married. Maybe a handful of times each. Need to read both books sometime since I always hear it's better to read the book than watch the movie. Well, I think the all time best movie ever is Dirty Dancing. So there you have it. :)
I need to watch Ben-Hur again. It's been such a long time. I also enjoy watching The Ten Commandments from 1956, which is another great movie from that time period.
As for Lord of the Rings, I agree that they are three of the best movies of all time. I own the extended editions, and I love to go back and watch them again and again. The excellent blending of scenery and practical effects with CGI makes the movies classics for sure. I'm happy that my wife really enjoys them, too.
As for the greatest movie of all time, I'm not really sure what movie that would be for me. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for sharing!
Lord of the rings, yes! However, I'm more of a scifi person and for some reason, I'm drawn to the martian.
