Children of Bodom: one of Finland's finest death metal bands

in #music6 years ago (edited)

I say they are one of the best anyway, but to be honest I can't think of any other ones. If I sit here long enough perhaps I will come up with something.

Ok, its been a while... I had a cup of tea and a smoke and honestly could only come up with Apolcalytica, which isn't even death metal. Time to step up your game Finland!

you must wear black in the photo shoot

I was first introduced to COB because a friend of mine who shares musical taste with me was sitting with me having his 11th beer or something along those lines and he was wearing a shirt with a crazy design on it.

I said “hey man, the fk is on your shirt?”

he said: “Oh it's Children of Bodom, dude. You should check them out”

And that is how I learned about Children of Bodom. Pretty awesome story huh? This is just one of the many great conversation I had with my Scottish brother and consequently you need to mention a similarly interesting conversation in order to receive an upvote

As it turns out these guys have been ripping it up for over 20 years and I am little disappointed in myself for not ever having heard of them because they are excellent. I will once again, blame it on the fact that I live in SE Asia and we don't hear about these sorts of things but that is a bullcrap statement because everyone has the internet. Therefore I will blame Facebook for melting my brain with drivel and political junk that goes nowhere.

I don't really know how to describe their style, but I will say this: You are just going to have to accept the fact that you can't really understand what the words to the song are. That's kind of part of death metal, in case you hadn't noticed / heard.

In my opinion what makes them so special is their musical arrangements. The guitar solos are just epic, the note progression just hits the perfect notes and its just..... emotional.

I don't know who decided one day that "you know what this really hard metal with all the growling needs? Keyboards!"

I'm sure that guy got laughed at a lot but then over the years it just kind of worked. I love a bit of keyboard thrown into my music plus it is funny to see the keyboard player try to act all hardcore and headbang and what not in the videos (such as the one i posted above.)

Well, see what you think and as always, I welcome your comments / criticism

Oh my goodness! Yeees, Children of Bodom !!! 👏👏👏 Although the band was formed in the same year that I was born, listen to their legacy. The best band in the world for its diversity, not only heavy metal but also melodic death metal and power metal. There's no better than Something Wild

Their music is epic ! First album I heard was Are You Dead Yet, I was maybe at age 11 or 12, but this album really kicked me so hard. Title song, opener Living Dead Beat and In Your Face - these tracks will never get old. One of the greatest melodeath bands all the time! :)

I always loved that album title... made me laugh when i saw it. Thanks for reading and glad to meet another metal fan as always.

I took metal music really serious at that time, so album title was really heavy and scary as well. Now I'm really happy that I chose this path and even when I met progressive rock music I remembered my metal roots. Also I was at the CoB's concert in Poland, in 2012 ;)

This is just one of the many great conversation I had with my Scottish brother

Having a discussion with people especially the right people has a lot to do with our perception and believe in life at time. Myself as an example, I've been a writer since only when God knows, I was on wordspress, I had facebook page and whatsap group to showcase my talents, doing all that without a single reward. I'm glad you mentioned wasting away your time on facebook as well... Smile

But just a single conversation with my brother led me here (steemit), and I'm enjoying it to the fullest.

I'm not a fan of pop music, I think I've been saying this over and over again, but reading from you for the past few days now is giving me another idea about music (pop/metal music included). So, I began to question myself on why do I hate this or that? Probably as time goes on, I would be able to develop more interest in it...

Bosom band is just a fraction of many talented people or bands that have their works unnoticed, but with right information like you are doing, it can be a turning point.
One of my cousins is a singer, the other time I listened to his song, I so much enjoyed the quality probably because he sang my style of music (old school songs....), he's works are not yet noticed and we have people that just enter into the studio without having anything to sing about like the one you shared yesterday having their works all over the place...smile

Every good thing in life starts with a simple conversation with the right person.

I must say, you're really influential. 'Cause day in, day out you shine spotlight on great music creators and performers most of us have not even heard of. I think these articles you keep posting will, one day, definitely turn one of these band's career around for the good. This is the first time I have heard of Children of Bodom, and I must say that I'm impressed with your opinions about them- I will check them out. Conversations
@gooddream : "hey man, what the fk is on your shirt?"
me(@kwadjobonsu) : "It is just STEEM logo and my username, feel free to send upvotes"
And that is how I got upvotes. :-)

it's Children of Bodom , dude. haha. "Bosom" is another word for a woman's chest :)

thanks for the correction.

They´re a cool band. Saw them live in Stockholm back in 2004. They can play fast as hell :)

Hey @gooddream goodmorning .
Frankly speaking, I didnt heard about children of bodom by you only i came to know about this band thanks for introducing to us. i saw the video that u shared in the post. The band was just awesome and their guitars beautiful i love the voice and one thing i want to say is when i heard to their music i remember Nickelback's "burn it to the ground" which is similar to this.
My favourite bands are aron pelsue, linkin park , nickelback..i think u already know these ones..

you should probably get flagged for comparing COB to Nickelback... lol j/k ... we are all entitled to our opinions / likes / dislikes :)

Haha yaa can u make a post about your top 10 bands that u like?

music norms, vocals suck

disagree, but we are all entitled to our opines. Thanks for reading.

Great talent you guys got there.I love the pop your music

One good thing about music is, when it hits you, you feel no pain ,. Words of a Rastaman. Bob neista Marley

The guitar solos are the sh*t. I too feel a certain emotion when they hit these solos regardless if I care for the melody..but sure doesn't hurt if the songs are arranged well enough to get me to that point. Otherwise I may skip the song before the "good" parts. I always liked that about Pink Floyd; Didn't much care for most of a song but waited in anticipation for that solo. Who invented the guitar solo anyway? I remember wearing a 'Faith No More' tee shirt OOOOOHHHHH soooooooooo Looooonnnnnggggg ago..same thing happened, friend was like who is that? I said, "ikd..it was free". hehe, we went to their concert a few months later to check them out and I was officially introduced to a mosh pit. NOT BY CHOICE. Just didn't see it coming. Come to think of it, I was also introduced to skill on how to move through a crowd quickly ;-)

This was the song that was playing when the mosh pit broke out:
