Working with a childhood hero - How we made a song for a Children's show.

I'm finally back in Buenos Aires after a week of tour , so I'm slowly catching up with comments and will resume regular activities . The whole week that just passed I made a little challenge of free-writing for 7 days and It was such a nice release , will make a post about that soon as I'd like for more people to join. Also , I took quite a bit of pictures .. will go through them when I have some more time :P

But today, as I was roaming through files on my old laptop during the trip I stumbled upon this little track I helped create a couple years ago , for a TV show that unfortunately did not reach air but at least the experience of making this was cool.

- Going back 20+ Years.

When I was around 5 or 6 there was this TV show that I really loved called ''Dr Expertus'' , it was a children show with such a cool twist on it , the games were fun , the topics interesting and it had a witty humor all written over it . It was also very educational .. kind of like a ''Beakman's World'' Spin Off ( A show that I also loved as a kid. ). The creator Galo Recalde was maybe the only person doing cool TV shows for kids at that time.

I eventually bugged my mom so much she ended up taking me to the Live show one day, i even got selected to play that day and I remember it was like the best thing ever that happened to me. I think the VHS of that day should be around somewhere.. I would need to go through so many old boxed to get that footage.

Many of the songs I still remember until this day, I was so sad the day the show got cancelled .. but oh well.. I had at least gotten my chance to meet Dr Expertus as a kid.

- Fast Forward those 20+ Years.

So , Galo had gone to live to the US for all that time but was back to launch another show and by those crazy turns of life ..I was in the production team!

This new show was called ''La Cuerporación'' and to explain it in a few words , it was like ''The Office'' but happening inside the human body .. and of course toned down for it to be appropriate for a kid's show. It was educational , fun and it was going to be very music centered.. Of course I was in!

The main character was ''Cerebrus'' who was played by Galo and was the chief of the company (the human body) and all the characters were created based on different parts of the human body, each character had a profile and an intro song and all the episodes were based upon the activities of the ''employees'' ( body organs and such ) . The script was hilarious and I even played a character in the pilot episode.

I was casted as the appendix , a comic relief character who nobody really knew what he did in the company .. he just happened to tag along . Sounds like me in real life :P . Unfortunately the show never made it on air... and I should really get my hands on the pilot episode footage.. It was hilarious.

But my real work was composing and producing the character's themes and overall music along the rest of the creative team , we did create one song for each character but this one I liked the most. The song for ''Corazona'' (The lady heart and Cerebro's love interest ).

Galo wrote all the lyrics while I made all the music arrangements and Sergio worked on the overall production , we made the music for the whole show in about 2 weeks. Galo was amused when I told him I participated in his Dr. Expertus show as a kid and that I admired him ... at the end of the 2 weeks we kind of wanted to kill each other .. but that's a different story hahahaha. He is quite a character and we did end up chatting a lot .. but I'll leave that for another time ;) . He is living in California now , haven't heard from him in quite a while.
