How Many Record Players Do You See Per Day?steemCreated with Sketch.

We went to the computer store. We saw over five record players that day.

He just received his allowance and my son wanted to have a new motherboard and CPU built around his current power supply. But what did we keep running into?

new phonograph at Falabella

On the way, we stopped at Falabella, an upscale department store here in Argentina, to see how much a new computer would be. There were only laptops, not so good for gaming, but we saw a record player among all the electronics. "Hey, look at that." I said to my son who had no interest in the novelty. Only one thing going through his head. New computer. New computer. Upgrade. Upgrade. Faster games. Like a song stuck in his head.

I could tell that he would not be happy until he got that wad of cash out of his pocket and into a better gaming machine. Continuing on to the computer store, we confirmed the quotation and dropped off the parts that would be reused in the build. The man behind the counter said, "It will be done in about two hours." If you have a teenager, there is no going home and relaxing when your computer will be done in only two hours.

Longest two hours of my life

We stopped to grab a Coke and see this gramo-phone on the counter where customers sit and eat or just have a coffee. Now this is just getting creepy.

These things can't actually be functional, I thought. Not even two years ago, I saw a street artist who had LP's, probably out of the trash, and he was turning them into art. He would paint your portrait, a Rolling Stones logo or even a sunset on one for just a few bucks. No hook necessary, they hang on the wall by the hole! Now people are buying these black disks new again. I did a search, yes they are back but I am not sure to what extent globally. Here's the first site that popped up.

So we are killing time and walking around

record store

Waiting for that magical two hour mark. We went to all the stores in the area, there are hundreds just related to computers, then more if you walk out of Galeria Jardin. We ate, we sat where the smokers sit, we went to the fountain downstairs, and that killed only forty-five minutes.

Then I catch a glimpse of another record player. No, it was an entire record store with music playing on what we used to call a turntable. I have no interest in building a new "Hi-Fi" set with separate amplifier, tuner, cassette hehe player and turntable. Yes, this is where we get the term Wi-Fi, but I guess y'all can Bing that and find it. No I don't talk or search like that.

This store did have the whole set, but he only sells brand new records and perfectly new Rush, Led Zeppelin, Stones, Skynyrd, Tull, and Priest t-shirts. I flipped through them all as my son kept looking at his phone to check the time.

If you think about it, what happens when music apps and platforms similar to Netflix house your music collection and nobody owns a CD player any longer. The industry has to find something to push. I am not much for conversation in Spanish but the owner did tell me that he sells more records than CD's.

It has been a while since I thought about it, but I had been wondering how music stores stayed in business. In a country where they still sell new and refurbished type-writers, I had lost the shock and awe of seeing strange things as strange things a while ago.

It may be that I am just out of touch

The Vinyl Revival started in 2007 according to search results. I didn't notice until now. Or maybe it just arrived in the southern tip of the Americas. What about where you are?

Sort:

Once about two years ago I went to a tourist place in my country where there were things from the 70's, 80's, 90's.. And the truth is that I love these themes. Those times have always seemed interesting to me.

The point is, that I saw that day as approximately more than 30 music players, and I'm not exaggerating, I think there were even many more.

It seems very crazy, but the vinyl records have always been more striking than normal and the one that is again seeing everywhere is something that more than impress me I love. I have a few in my house.

You have record players? Cool. I remember when I was a kid, if you walked across the room or stomped your feet, the music would skip.

I do not have a record player. I have vinyl records. Previously I did have one, even my grandparents had, it was very striking because they even had them until now. I do not know what they did but the extra ones.

I have a collection of records and I think I'll use them again ha ha ha, I really do not know why it's coming back yesterday but welcome.

It is crazy the things that get popular and then fade. I think of this kind of like phones and watches. They tried to make them smaller and smaller. Everyone needed the smallest phone to carry around. Then the screen became the keyboard and camera - flip -bigger is better, more pixel density.

Fashion is retro, good thing is maybe nostalgia for human contact and direct that was lost with so much technology greetings friend.

Greetings. I think you are right. When I visit friends now, they all sit around with phones to face. Today's world is like having the whole school assembly all in the gymnasium at the same time, but they are all in your phone on messenger, whatsapp, telegram and basefook or some site like that.

It's like having everyone at your house all the time day and night. The phone makes a noise and we ignore everything around us. I have done it too.

I miss the old days when people would ask, "Hi, did I catch you at a bad time? Can you talk?"

well this is weird, i was already amazed to see so many store selling this discs but i always thought "meh they must be struggling" i never imagined that market was alive again, just wow.

"New computer. New computer. Upgrade. Upgrade" hahahahaha he was totally zombified.

My hard drive broke 2 days ago, i am so sad these days. :/ , not because of the actual hard drive but the laziness of not making a backup.

i am looking like crazy a 500gb western digital, there is a guy that can go into surgery and recover my data if i find the exact same model.

I wish you the best on finding one. Back ups are so important. My dash, ltc, bts and steem keys are all on paper the same day I open the accounts. Everyone needs to take care and be sure they don't lose or erase keys. Thanks for commenting.

Coffee sometime. How about Emviar for old time sake?

Let me know ill go right away i do need to free my mind from this worry-ing of not having backed up my shit. Notify me on Ws since i dont have notifications for steemit im a noob.

Wonderful presentation on recorders. Keep it up.

My grandmother still has a record player (I do not know if it works), apart from that I've seen only two of those in my whole life ... btw, I'm only 22 years old

I don't have a car, so I walk a lot. This is something I would have noticed, or at least I think so. There are places that sell old toys, silver, crystal, and records all over the tourist areas. That is nothing new.

It's the New record players and new records that caught my eye - got my camera out.

Oh, I see ... it's certainly something you do not see every day... Greetings

Hello @sponge-bob, 2 hours too long, imagine my wife shopping can accompany up to 4 hours just for 3 to 5 kinds of goods ... Hufff. Have a nice day for you

Haha. I got rid of the wife, but kept the kids. You are right! My sympathies.

We enjoy the best and quality times is family times. Thank you for all and say hello from me to your awesomeness family.

I visit my ex-wife all the time. Will do.

Didn't even remembered about it now that has become very rare to spot on

oow a very unique musical instrument, I often listen to his voice.
But does your child like it?
My son really liked the recording device, he asked me to buy it.

This must be a really old thing I wrote about because everyone thinks it can record sound. If I am not mistaken, the black LP records are stamped out by a machine from a metal master.

We didn't buy one. We were out getting a computer fixed and during the day, we kept seeing these old things.

Oooo I think you bought it ..
Honestly, I really like that
