JESUS CHRIST - THE BEAUTIFUL?

in #myth7 years ago

Have you ever seen those babies with a face that only their mother could love?

What did Jesus look like, was He unattractive, or a magnificently beautiful "human"?

With Christmas right around the corner, many are at least having some thoughts about Jesus this time of year.

Often, when we see images of Jesus Christ these days, people generally portray Him as some handsome white man with a beard. When I considered the very little that the Bible reveals about His physical appearance, it seems that if Jesus Christ was beautiful, His beauty did not come from His physical appearance.

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (Isaiah 53:2-3)

Just look at those descriptions:

he hath no form nor comeliness

when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him

we hid as it were our faces from him

Hmmm... a Savior so ugly that people had to look away.

I realize that this goes against our superficial tendencies, and that many will still cling to their false images of a beautiful (in appearance) Jesus. However, I must find such views to be flawed and in error, based upon what God has to say about the matter.

In this video, created by @narrowminded and @truconspiracy, we will examine some more on this matter, and consider what the implications of this truth may be.

Before you share your thoughts on the matter, please at least watch or listen to the video. It runs about 25 minutes, but is easy to play and listen to while you do other things if you don't want to take the time to actually "watch" it.

Thanks, @narrowminded

Very powerful. Satan's anti-christ will come as a very beautiful man. The opposite of Christ. Great video @narrowminded and @truconspiracy!

Some amazing stuff here. I think it's so important for us to really understand who Jesus is because He is who we need to model our lives after. We put so much value in the superficial when Jesus doesn't value those things. I really enjoyed the info in the video and keep sharing your posts brother. Definitely encouraging.

Thanks for that!

It is who we are on the inside that really matters, for this outer shell will soon pass away!

Man, enjoying it way back! Hope you are doing well Brother.

Ever notice how the movies and pictures almost depict Jesus as this really handsome guy (usually with light brown hair and a nicely trimmed beard). I seriously doubt it. I read somewhere that God made him purposely plain that he would not be admired for his looks. Satan (lucifer) on the other hand was the most beautiful of the Angels. When I see pics of guys like Rob Zombie and people say: "That's evil." I say no, that's bizarre, evil is beautiful!

I used to look a little similar to Rob Zombie, and I certainly was bizarre!

Humility and being humble is so different than being proud, and beauty is one of the worst reasons to be proud.

Couldn't have said it any better!

Where you get into the things about Jesus in Isaiah 53 at the start- and it discusses that when He comes we would not see the beauty of him - (sic) - it is speaking prophetically (looking forward) -- that the masses would reject the beauty of (in) his cause and purpose.

A cause which would be fulfilled time and again with the abuse and rejection and suffering he would bear for us -- eventually at the cross.

Isaiah 53:2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

His beauty was based upon Who He is and What He has done, not what He looked like.

So many rejected Him the Entire time He walked upon this earth, and so many still do.

That's what I was getting at. Over the years my friends here or there will message me or talk to me if I see them about why I became a Christian because there were big changes in my life and word got around plus what they have seen on social media here or there. I am always glad for those talks
