RE: Why I'm joining Narrative Network (Steemit competitor)

in #narrative6 years ago

It's good to hear about all the potential competition that is springing up for STEEM. My hope is that it will only make this space stronger and more competitive, so that many more will come to the blockchain and leave the other kinds of social and blogging sites behind.

I'm here on STEEM because it's up and running and at least somewhat fulfilling it's stated purpose. However, as these other sites/blockchains come along, I think it behooves all of us to be checking them out and seeing how they roll out, form, etc. Someone is bound to get it right from the beginning, and they will be the one with the best chance of winning the space.

Those are my thoughts exactly, it would be nice if Steem and narrative could both grow out of those who are tired of the social media giants.

What I like about Narrative is that they seem eager to improve upon what steemit has built. Their model is less revolutionary to me, but even if many of us are ready for the level of freedom steemit provides, there are still those who are not and have drained on the ecosystem to a large degree

Well, the idea of know your customer that you bring up seems to me to be something you'd want to do to some degree. I don't think you want to potentially harbor malcontents. That sounds dangerous and unnecessary. I don't know how you do it and maintain a level of anonymity, but even in the creation of alt accounts, it would be great if they all had to tie back to one identity, whatever that was. It wouldn't have to be a name, SSN or phone number, but something that would identify you as the owner.

Anyway, there needs to be some level of decorum. I'm glad there's freedom and decentralization. I think the means at our disposal to police ourselves still leaves a little to be desired.
